This document describes how to eneable developer mode in the Chrome browser for the Umbrella Chromebook Client (UCC).

Overview

The Chrome browser's Developer mode must be enabled in order to collect diagnostic logs from both the Umbrella Chromebook Client App and the Umbrella Chromebook Client Extension.

Solution

If Developer mode access is restricted, use these steps to enable it:

Log into the Google Admin console (at admin.google.com).
Navigate to Device > Chrome > Settings.
On the left, select the proper organization unit that contains the users whose configuration you want to change.
Update the Developer Tool settings with “Always allow use of built-in developer tools”.
Changes you make for an organization are also inherited by users in child organizations unless overridden at a lower level. The Admin console marks whether a setting is Inherited or overridden (marked as "Locally applied").
Click SAVE.
