SOAR - Warm standby OR SOAR start up failing with NumPy float error

Splunk SOAR

Description

Trying to set up warm-standby OR trying to restart SOAR fails with an error stating that it got removed in a NumPy 2.0 release: 

AttributeError: `np.float_` was removed in the NumPy 2.0 release. Use `np.float64` instead.

 


Investigation

  • Check if any packages at anytime were installed, for instance pandas will cause this issue. 
  • For the warm standby, check the output when running the setup script. the last line will read similar to the error below.
  • For a failure of SOAR starting up, the same error below will be found in the wsgi.log file:
AttributeError: `np.float_` was removed in the NumPy 2.0 release. Use `np.float64` instead.

 


Resolution

Downgrade the NumPy package. Versions 6.1.1 to 6.2.0 work well with 1.25.1. The main issue is in the error where 2.0+ removes the required function.

phenv pip install --upgrade numpy==1.25.1

Note: For Splunk SOAR Cloud this change needs to be performed via custom app OR open a support case.
