    Introduction

    This document describes how to identify inventory discrepancies of optics in NCS1004 and offers a solution to address the issue.

    Problem

    Several ports do not appear in the  show inventory command output. This issue affects both Cisco and non-Cisco optics and has been observed on various line cards and devices.

    Isolation of the Issue

    If you use the command show inventory location 0/*, you do not see the information for this optics.

    But, if you use the command show controllers optics location R/S/I/P  - you see information for optics like PID, Serial number, Name, and more as shown in the image.

    Solution

    Workaround is to perform issue a warm reload from the admin with the command hw-module location 0/0 reload warm. Software Defect: Cisco bug ID CSCvw73152NCS1004 QSFP28 are not detected in inventory.
