ITSI entities are not imported because of special character

Applicability

Description

During a mass entity import, some of the entities were not created, while the others were created.

Investigation

• Run the import search manually, and look at the fields for the entities. Focus on the title fields, alias and info fields and focus on entities that were not imported.
• scan the internal ITSI logs for any errors at the time of the import.

In this particular case, the entities titles contained URLs, like "mysite.domain.com/my/path"  were imports, while entities with extra arguments key=values "mysite.domain.com/my/path?key=value"  were not imported.
 
The problem is that  the "=" equal character is unsupported.

As explained in the documentation, mentioning the alias fields and the info fields, the title field is also concerned.

Resolution

Solutions : 

• If you do no need those entities,  exclude the entities with the special characters
• or if those are valid entities, use the import search to trim the fields to edit the arguments part.
  • by trimming the url to exclude the arguments
  • or by replacing the special characters by valid ones
  • And later in your KPIs, use the same method to have a consistent entity naming, to allow the lookups mapping.
