Registered user cannot access Observability Cloud

Description

In some cases, a user may forget their password or cannot login initially to the Observability Cloud Platform using the invitation they are sent to join an organization. There are also cases where a sole administrator leaves their role and is not available to perform user management within Observability Cloud. In that case a new administrator must be invited to the organization or promoted to that role with no action by the previous administrator.

Investigation

If a registered user is unable to access their Observability Cloud organization, there are a few scenarios to consider. 

1. Has the user ever logged in to the platform?
2. Is there an organization administrator available to assist?
3. Is the user a standard user or an organization administrator?

If any user is ever unsure, please contact support for assistance. 

Resolution

If users have been able to login to the Observability Cloud Platform previously, there is a Forgot Password link available on your login page. Navigate to your login page and use the link provided:

If there is an organization administrator available to assist, all users are able to utilize these internal resources to fix issues if they have never logged in to the platform. Organization administrators have the ability to create and manage users within the Observability Cloud Platform.  

If the user is the sole administrator of the organization and has never previously accessed the platform. Please open a support case with Observability Cloud support. Be sure to include explicit permission to access the organization for the purpose of resending an existing administrator invitation. Support can resend the existing invitation only.

If the sole administrator for the organization is no longer in their role or otherwise unable to manage users within Observability Cloud, please open a support case with Observability Cloud support. Support will provide instructions for users to follow to gain administrative access.
