Description

The health check system may flag warnings stating that the save_image_and_icon_on_install script has exited abnormally with exit status 1.
 

Investigation

How to Identify it:
The warning message will appear in the Splunk health check system and may also be noted in the splunkd.log file.

Another useful troubleshooting steps are:

  1. Check the Splunk logs for more information.
  2. Review the save_image_and_icon_on_install script for errors or abnormal behavior.
  3. Run the script manually to diagnose potential issues.

Resolution

The warning is benign and can be safely ignored without affecting the functionality of the Splunk Dashboard Studio. To suppress the warning:
  1. Navigate to Splunk Web UI.
  2. Go to Settings > Data Inputs.
  3. Locate the script at $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/splunk-dashboard-studio/bin/save_image_and_icon_on_install.py.
  4. Set it to "Disabled".
