Splunk ML Toolkit & PSC “Error in ‘fit’ command: External search command exited unexpectedly”

search.log shows the following error.

command exited unexpectedly.11-13-2019 02:11:05.173 ERROR ChunkedExternProcessor - Failed to write buffer of size 21 to 
external process file descriptor (Broken pipe)

This is related to Splunk search not following its protocol.

Resolution

SPL-182397 include/planned in follow releases 7.2.11, 7.3.6, 8.0.3
Workaround: disabling previews for the search in question, you have to click on statistics tab to turn off preview for the search
