Some versions of the 24MPO-MPO cables (listed in the Products Affected section) do not work as intended for the CPAK-10x10G connection with the NCS2K-MF-MPO-20LC Fan Out.
The 24MPO-MPO cables work for ROADM connectivity but do not work for CPAK-10x10G to NCS2K-MF-MPO-20LC Fan Out due to missing fiber connectivity. This has been identified as a design limitation with the MPO cables that are shipped after January 2016, from a certain vendor. Some of the 24 connections in the cable are not connected, which leads to the improper function of the CPAK application.
If an affected cable is used for the interconnection between the CPAK and the NCS2K-MF-MPO-20LC module, then Lane 0 and Lane 9 of the CPAK-10x10G do not work.
If customers do not use a CPAK connection to the NCS2K-MF-MPO-20LC Fan Out, no action is required.
If customers use the 24MPO-MPO cables for the CPAK connection to the NCS2K-MF-MPO-20LC Fan Out and encounter the issue that is described in this Field Notice, they should open a return request so that Cisco can provide a replacement. For assistance, contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC).
Use the information that is provided in the table and images in order to determine the impacted cables:
