Problem Description

Some ASA5506, ASA5506W, ASA5506H, ASA5508, and ASA5516 security appliances were shipped without the Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) on-box management software.

Background

Some ASA5506, ASA5506W, ASA5506H, ASA5508, and ASA5516 security appliances that shipped from February 2015 through October 2015 might not contain the ASDM on-box management software.

This requires the user to download the ASDM management software from the Cisco Software Download Center and install the software on affected units. 

Problem Symptoms

Use one of these methods in order to determine if the ASDM management software is not installed on the appliance:

• From the Web User Interface, the directory command shows this output:

  '404 Not Found
   The requested URL /admin/public/index.html was not found on this server.'

• From the console port CLI, the directory command will not display filename asdm-7xx.bin.

Workaround/Solution

Install ASDM 7.5.1 management software from the Cisco Software Download Center. A support contract is not required in order to download filename 'asdm-751.bin.'
