Q. How should I lay out and light my video room?
A. Make sure that the background for video calls is uncluttered. Avoid curtains, windows or doors, or distracting artwork in the background. Consider that those in a meeting room will be facing the screen as well as each other when they speak.
Lighting should be even and bright. A common problem is when someone is sitting between the system and a windown; often the person becomes just a dark shadow. Another common problem is the use of spot lighting, which causes shadows on the face. You can improve lighting by having a ligh colored, but not bright, walls (light blue is ideal), covering any windows with curtains, and ensuring that the source of any lighting is out of the picture shot.
