Oh, everyone. Thank you for joining our expert insight series here. Again, we.00:00We had this series going on for this whole quarter here. My name is Gerard McNeil. I'm joined by my colleague and friend here called Huff. We're gonna go through this presentation here to help you guys with integrating with Catalyst Center. Okay, so as you well know, if you've already been with us on a couple.00:19Sessions our goal here for the expert insight series is to share knowledge in the form, in a format where you know the information provided is built off previous sessions, right? So, as we continue helping you within your, you know, your drive to adoption, today we will be going through several.00:38Or, you know, possible integrations inside Catalyst Center that can take advantage that you guys can take advantage of to provide more value within your network needs, right? And save you some time too as well. We all, we all want that. That's what mainly with this presentation here is about.00:58And so now this is our series wrap up session. We had a few already, but we're we're wrapping up with this session here. What we're gonna do is we're gonna begin a new series probably later on inside the quarter, and we'll give you guys a heads up on when that's starting there too as well later on in the year. All right, so that'll be coming for.01:14In the coming weeks that we have here too as well. So, you know, please stay tuned for that and you know join us in that session too as well because we really enjoy these sessions here and we get good turnouts here and hopefully you guys enjoying it just as much as we're presenting it for you there too as well.01:35And for those of you who haven't, you know, joined our Q and A form or our Slido form here, this where you can join in now, you can scan there quick check, you're not sharing. I'm not able to see anything. Oh, ok, sorry, sorry about that. Yeah, I got you. There we go. No worries. It just didn't click.01:53Here, sorry about that.02:13There we go. Appreciate that Peter. I appreciate it. All right, so here's a scan here. This would help if I have the screen shared here. So here's a scan here for two as well. These are the sessions that we have set up there, so I'll plug back there, but go ahead and get a scan there for us so you can join inside the the Q and A form.02:15There you have set there. All right I'll give you a second to do that too as well since I didn't share my screen. Okay, Cool. Okay, so you know our agenda here is quite simple. What we'll do is we're gonna go through a live session.02:35And we're gonna pretty much live inside the dev OPs persona of Catalyst Center. Of course as a lot of you guys know that we have four personas within Catalyst Center, which is AI ops, net ops, secops, and DevOps. And so DevOps is where we're gonna live here today. And co Oph is gonna, you know, preview on a lot of what he's gonna.02:54To do once I, you know, like he's gonna go deeper into the AI, the AI and the API setups that we have set up there too as well. And he's gonna preview that process and then I'll jump in to show you guys some events and notifications that will help us save time too as well with all of the data.03:14That we have site catalyst center, we'll be able to extract that to different destinations. We'll talk a little bit more about that.03:34And then I'll touch on some REST APIs, so we kinda like splitting the baby here. I'll touch on some rest APIs and then will go deep into the rest APIs that we have there. And then he'll follow that up with some advanced integrations that we have to as well from Splunk to ServiceNow et cetera.03:40And then we'll finish off with, you know, our call to action and some Q and A too as well, ok? And so with that, I'll let you preview some of the platforms that you want to touch on the echo off. Just gonna give you the ball here. There we go.03:57Thank you, thank you so I will start with the overview of what we, the topic that we are going to follow in this session, start with the platform, right? We, we know that we use center to automate the network automate the process.04:16And we also use connect center to monitor the network using the AIML edge runs using the telemetry from the network devices that but this is only part of the center features or capabilities, right? We also have the.04:37Other two features to integrate with the other system to to unlock the potential and we can also send the alert and notification to the other system. With these two integration and alerting we can create the business streamline the process.04:55And create a business outcome for to to solve their business problem. And this is what we are going to talk in these sessions.05:15Okay, so from from what you can see from from here, right? We have the center to manage all the Cisco network equipment center also support report we can generate reports. From the center we support API, we can we can we also support event and.05:27Applications with all of these right we can integrate with tool like Python and we also have the natively feature to integrate with the others.05:473rd party applications, including web apps and other things. We with with the open API that we we have on the center, we can integrate with the other system, support infrastructure as support using GitLab and GitHub, we can also integrate with and we already.06:02Have the AI support on the centers. All these things right we we but the objective is to support all the customer vertical vertical to deliver deliver the business outcome.06:22And from here, right, as you can see from here we we will talk about even notification, rest API and integration in this session. We will touch on the developer resources a little bit.06:38About we also have the developer resource in the developer.cisco.com that you can use to like them and and the other resources that we will talk about in this session also. And after this will continue with the event notifications. Thank you Jared.06:53All right. Yes. Thank you. I appreciate that preview there. I'm gonna jump right back over to our events and notifications here and I'll and i'll stay with you for a while here. All right, so our events and notifications here, right? So I want to start off with just giving you a bird's eye view of our event notification framework.07:15And what it illustrates here is, it, we pretty much transforming the raw network events into actionable intelligence, right? So in the beginning, you know, of the flow, we'll have the event sources, which is pretty much our network infrastructure, which is the switches, the routers, the wireless, coupled inside.07:34My catalyst center, as we can see the.07:53Lovely logo there and we're gonna show and illustrate how it passes through the sources to the events here, right? So the event sources are gonna be pretty much the the the main value to add that we have inside Callison, which is automation and assurance and the overall system of catalyst center. These events are gonna.07:56Feed into an event management system, right? And that's gonna be fed into where it's event catalogs that we have. So we have a bunch of them. I'll show you a little bit of the parent and the childs, and each one of the.08:16Event catalogs we can subscribe to, right? So we can subscribe it to a certain destination that we will want. In one of our cohost slides you showed a lot of the destinations that we had there too as well, and we're gonna see a little bit about it, you know, from side by side basis here too as well. And, and then from there, we have a.08:30Sometime dashboard that we can take a look at a lot of those events and.08:50It being set up where we can make sure that it's all loaded in as successful as possible. And then that bleeds into our notification methods that we just saw inside our slides there. So we got web hooks, we got Webex notifications, SNMP and email notification method. That's a popular one there too as well.08:54You have syslog and ServiceNow and pager duty if you're in healthcare there too as well. So we're gonna go through each one of these. The 1st one.09:14It's gonna, the 1st one is gonna run into the business use cases that we have there for it. So I'll spend a little bit of time in there too as well but this is the business use cases that we have here like your your NOC, your ITSM that we'll touch on, your logging, your management services there.09:23Okay, so before we jump into the 1st one, this is the exhaustive, well, kind of like the parent exhaustive list of events that we have. So we have over 200, right? So before it was 269I think we added a few here and we're, we're gonna continue to add a little bit more events here as you know, all of this data grows up.09:41Right, so we have the parent events here. I show this because this is where we can actually search at least one of these parent events and all of the child events will come up too as well, which is gonna be awesome. I'll show you how that looks, right? So if onboarding fabric, clients, et cetera, right? And this is.10:01How it looked before within the platform and developers toolkit, it's showing pretty much the later of our former version where we had all the events exhausted there too as well. So yeah, 2609, and then if you have a version of Catalyst Center.10:202379 or later, you'll have the full list of it here or the updated list of events there too as well. All right, so you have that at your disposal there alright and so in conjunction of the event catalogs, you'll have the event notification set up, right? And that notification setup is conjunction with.10:37Two simple steps, right? And I'll run through those two steps there too. But what you're doing is just pretty much selecting the destination on where you want that event to be sent, right? Where you want to be alerted, and then you just subscribe it in that way for a specific channel that you want, right? So as I mentioned, you know, we support.10:57You know, most, most of what you guys probably are already using or are interested in using, which is webhooks, ITSM, which is pretty much ServiceNow syslog SNMP, that popular one or pager duty, Webex teams, right? So, we'll be able to show you that within that regard, but overall, these are gonna two.11:17There's gonna be the two steps that we use inside catalyst center once we set up the notification connections and and certs and stuff and we allow it for that data to be accessed to that data there. Then we'll just set up with these two steps and you'll see how quick it is that we're able to do it inside catalyst center. All right, so.11:37We'll start with email notifications here. All right? So let's get started for this one and I'll spend some time with this step here too as well so you can know it, and then on the other ones I'll just, you know, breeze through a lot of it from that part. All right, so this is where you'll start, right? So you'll start within the platform developers toolkit.11:57You'll add a new notification there and of course, as you imagine, it'll go over to your event notifications here. And this is what I wanted to point out, right? So 1st you'll select your site. This is where you want the notifications to be reading and pulling from, right? And then what you can do is you can select.12:16Parent event, right? So let's just say the parent event is interfaced down. And as you can see here, it pulls up automatically that all the child or children events that is associated with the interface being down, right? You can select them alright there and just make it quick for yourself or specific actual like so if you only care about just.12:37The WAN interface down, right? So you don't want all this noise here. You can just select one. And then as you can see, it's showing you the channel supports that we have here and you just click next there.12:57All right. And we'll select the actual channels here. So we have our list of the channels here, and then we'll select email, alright and then with the email, all you have to do is just fill out your instance information, you know, you know, from where the the data that you want and what destination email that you want here too as well. I believe you can do multiple one.13:09Is here. Panelists please correct me if I'm wrong there, but yeah, you can add more, you know, more than one email here for it too as well. So we'll have that set up. All right, so that's just pretty much filling out that information, the subject that you're.13:29You know, worried about here and you hit next and you'll just fill in the descriptions here. I believe this is required here too as well. You'll name it and then you'll put in the description here and you hit next. And you'll get a full summary of what you configure here for each one. So you have the name.13:44Name you have the site events and the email settings that you added there too as well. And once you're done, you'll just hit finished status, this is how simple it is from there that that regard for email.14:04Alright, and so for Webex notifications, this one's a little bit different for the setup, for the front end. And so what you would do is, here is pretty much illustrating the Webex notifications, so for.14:15You know, any chosen event of our Webex adapter, it can be posted in as a message inside Webex, right? As an adaptive card we call, right? And in this adaptive card, it gives you the issue, it gives you issue detail details and it correlates specifically or at least identically as what you see inside catalyst.14:30Center right, so we can see the issue settings here. You can go straight to the issue settings here. You'll see the status that is open here and obviously you see the suggested actions, the famous suggested actions that we have that we can resolve our issues so quickly here, right? It it correlates specifically to the adaptive card here, whereas though the issue status.14:50This shows active, we can cross launch to it, right? When we do cross launch into it, we'll go through our suggested actions here. Let's just say like we resolved it, we'll see it on the demo in just a second. But this is what we'll see.15:10Right, so it'll automatically send, you know, a message to you once the issue has been resolved, which is super awesome, right? So you get the to get the details there and you get the resolution status there too as well. Mobilely, wherever you are, you don't have to log in to get this information either. All right? The main thing I, you know, I like is that you can.15:23You cross launched from there wherever you are too as well by clicking this here, you'll see it in a demo too as well.15:43So that's the after, but before then, what you'll do is you'll set up the bot here, you'll set up a bot, specifically just so that inside Webex you can add that bot to a space, right? And that's the process of here, right? So.15:48A couple of things we will need to create, right? So you'll create the channel, the, the Webex room, et cetera. And then what we'll need is to put in a bot name and an ID for the actual space for the adaptive card there. All right, so that it can intent so it can I I.16:05It can pretty much match into, the authentication for the Webex, right? So that's how that, that's how that sets up. All right. So you're posting the message there from the Webex, their room and what's required is the room name, and the room identification.16:22And then the bot is added to it and then it can just pretty much connect and answer questions from in that regard. So yeah, you'll be able to run that process there, right? And so the way we're able to do that is through the developers webex.com documentation, so we'll provide that link for you there too as well at the end of this presentation.16:39But, part of it is just getting set up creating the bot from in this process here sort of like what we did with the email or process, but before you're able to, you know, start doing the, the two step process of connecting it, you have to create the bot there too as well.16:59A little bit about the bot, you know, you will be connected by a token and that token there is the authentication token is valid for a hundred years, so you're gonna have to worry about that going away, you just need to make sure you have it handy for it and you you'll see where you need to plug it in that to create the bot. And once you have the bot in.17:18You can create the space and add the bot there to it.17:37All right. And the type of Webex bot will be a notifier which will, you know, respond to events and post a summary for you. This bot will, you know, be able to also assist in questions, which is cool, right? So, it understands natural language and responds to questions, right? And it also.17:41So is.18:01Only authenticated to, you know, pretty much react to the questions in the messages that it's associated with. So if it's, if it's added to a space or it's added to a certain individual space, then it'll only contact will have access to that actual conversation there too as well. So.18:02That's the way it's set up here and then you'll get the adaptive card from in that regard right so you can ask more and then and and cross launch from there too as well.18:22Okay, here's another link that you will need to set up here, right? So you just set up the account here and create a new app and it's just pretty much the application for Webex and you can select whichever whichever local process there for you that you want. So the name of the.18:33That will be set there, but then also the logo of the app will be set there too as well. You'll see it inside the space.18:53Alright, and you just go through the steps here, right? So, create the bot, put in the form instance information, the icon for it too as well, 123 steps, pretty quick, and then you'll put in your description on what this bot is therefore, right? So Cisco catalyst in the lab notification.18:59Webhook receiver connection, and then you just add the bot once you have all the descriptions there for what this bot is made for here.19:20And then I give you a congrats message and it'll give you a token to as well, and you'll copy that, keep it handy. I'll show you where to put that there too as well, and and then you're done from there. So all you have to do is go to Webex, you'll create a space for it. You already have the bot name and all that stuff it created.19:28It should pop up here once you search it and then you'll just add it to that space there, right? And you hit create and it's part of that space and this and this is the work through documentation I'll give you guys too as well. Some of the API methods that we were able to use there too as well. I'll put that in the chat.19:47Developers.webex.com into the presentation there and then through the documentation steps, this is where you'll be able to see the list rooms and the list ID, how to authenticate for the bot to be a specific conversation inside Webex there.20:08To as well, and this is the string that you have to set in, right?20:27And once this is all filled out and you run this process here, it'll be done from that second step. And then now you're off to the races into catalyst center off you go to create the notifications and the two step process to set up the notifications for alerts. Apologies for the error here.20:31From there. Okay, then once you hit that, now you just go through the the selected NO so we just click interface here. This is just like a a parent event that we have set here and then overall, like I mentioned before, you can select all or select a specific event that you're interested in.20:51And then we go to the next step here and we'll select Webex this time, right? And then we hit next, you put in the instance settings there, right? And the token, sorry, let me go back. This is where you'll place the token here. That's what I wanted to mention here. So it's the same type of, you know, instant information, the URL that you're going.21:11Going to the descriptions or room ID that you got from the previous slide, but then also you placed in your token there too as well.21:31It's a 400 years so you don't have to worry about keeping up with it, ok? And then just put your name and descriptions there, you hit next, you get your beautiful summary there on what you configured, and that's finished here, right? So once that's all set.21:39That's gonna be pretty much synonymous to a lot of our, the rest of our notifications there too as well. You'll use the documentation to set up their, your bot or set up the channel, and then you come into it and come inside catalysts and then create the channel there set up, right? This is how it looks when we.21:58Yeah, as it's identical to the issue settings or whatever that you see inside your issues, right? So this is corresponding to a PDX issue, which is a BGP down I believe. Yeah, so a BGP down, so you can see the same error description here and neighborship inside the adaptive car, right? So we're pretty much.22:16Much clicking this.22:36To cross launch over to catalyst. And you'll be able to see this in the demo. Matter of fact, let's let's go ahead and take a look at that here now. All right, so interest of the time got a recording video here. So as you can see we have six issues here, and that's gonna correspond to the Webex adaptive cards. We should have six adaptive.22:37Cards there too as well, so let's take a look at that. So here's our adapter costs inside Webex.22:58Alright, so we should have six here, all identical to the status that it shows and then we cross launch. Yeah, you can cross launch here, go straight to the center, not just on the homepage, go straight to the issue. We'll take a look at the issue description, and what we're gonna do is we're gonna resolve this, right?23:03You know, and we always see the the famous suggested actions that we're able to use here, right? So we can run it straight from catalyst center, solve it within record time, as we all know. We'll, we'll make sure it all checks off.23:20We'll get a summary of it and we'll resolve this issue and we'll see how it changes our issue setting, right? So from six to two, so that issue there was corresponding to several of the adaptive car issues there. And so we'll resolve all of those right there. So that's the value add here to not even have to log.23:35Into Center from your desktop and you can resolve an issue mobilely, right? So that's the biggest value add there from a Webex standpoint. If you guys have Webex, that's the the bot processes and setting up your adaptive cards is very valuable for your time and not having to log in.23:56Good to see all this stuff here and going to different devices there. So that's value add there. All right.24:15Moving on to pager duty notifications, yeah, second from the last here again the same way you'll set, we'll get you the document documentations here, but these are the steps process here. You'll, you'll go to end to end orchestrations here or or incident management.24:23Some good screenshots here for it. There's a link for the notification set up here and then once that's all set up, then, this one's much more simple and more quicker from a pager duty standpoint cause you're just setting up the, the pager setup and then you.24:41We're back to your two step process for setting up the notification destination and the channel that it's running through, right? So for this one here, we're selecting CPU.24:59Utilization there, you can see some of the child events there. We'll set up hit next, select our pager duty, instance fill in, this one's gonna be, and you'll get this from the step process of the document for pager duty here, but you'll get the integration key.25:09You'll place it in there and you'll add in your event API version there too as well and then you go next, and your name and description, go next. Full summary, and then we're finished there, right? And so let's take a look at how this looks and how it corresponds, make sure that it.25:28Does correspond from Catalyst Center for pager duty two as well and how that works.25:48Okay, so we'll go to another issue. Let's go to the details here. So we see a switch power failure here, right? So we can go to switch power failure. We could take a look at the description and all we're really gonna do is make sure that it's corresponding inside our pager duty.25:53GUI dashboard, right? So we had the same power failure there. I know you see it was it was triggered 2 min ago. We can see the alerts here. We can see where the alerts falls in the details for it. It's the same as within catalyst center details. You see that the issue status shows active here.26:13So it's not resolved yet. It was triggered 2 min ago and we're here. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna resolve it oh this is where you know this is the message that you'll get from the pager number, right? So if you're in health care, this is how you can add a value add there where you can page any.26:31A type of change or event that we have here, right? So we just went ahead and just resolved this issue and then within seconds, right, pager duty have it, has it resolved, you know, and then the same description there that we show here and it shows result here, show that it resolve it so.26:49Up here, it shows the incident base and it shows the status here resolved too as well. And that sends directly once it's here, it's gonna send directly to the actual pager that's connected here. All right? And we have escalation pictures and links and stuff that you guys can take a look at too as well.27:09Okay. And last but not least is webhooks notifications, right? So this webhook notification is more so from 3rd party destinations and what have you, right? So we'll go through the step processes of this. I did want to mention so you know what web hooks are, right? So webhooks are.27:28Use, you know, by the server.27:48To publish data, right? So that data specifically or that server specifically is catalyst center in this regard, right? And from that regard, we don't necessarily care from beyond the server here. We wanna know so in between the server is catalyst center being a.27:50Server it's pushing data to the client's perspective from from the service perspective to the client, right? So we'll get that data set up we're able to have access with that data through methodologies of post input methods, right? So you'll be able to see that. And again, this is a push model.28:10Using these methodologies here too as well, where being a server and us being a client within between that, we get, you know, different examples of Python scripts that we're able to create and use and subscribe to, right? We subscribe it to it the same two steps.28:29A process there too as well, but it's a little bit different within Catalos Center there. But before we do that, we'll check and see.28:49What are some of the web webhook notifications I was gonna say Webex webhooks notification here, right? So the two step process here is, different it's within catalyst center, we don't necessarily have to have any documentation.28:57Set up there or we just go to systems, then settings and go to destinations here and here's where we can see some of the destinations that Cohort is gonna talk about like Splunk integrations, et cetera, right? But one of the ones we have here is Python anywhere, so this is a webhook receiver that we have set up.29:12We can put in all the information here, like the URL, the destination, the description.29:31We're we'll sort it up, we'll make sure that it's trusted, and then we'll authenticate it as basic and then hit update, and then we're back at our process, right? So we're actually right at the event notification here and a two step process for that.29:38We'll grab our event, hit next. And then for this one here, we're gonna click on rest, right? Because that's gonna be this data is sent from the server, right? So we're using HTTPS to push the API information for this different channel. So this is the channel that we're gonna specifically create here, right?29:57Or select and put our instance information there just like we did before. All right, and if you don't have it set up, if you don't have the actual server set up, you it has a link here and it just takes you straight to the systems.30:16And settings that you can fill in and you have that information there, you go next. And then you can add the destination once you created it there, right? So that's why we were on the systems and settings here. We can go to webhooks, go to the destination, we can add the destination that we saw there from the screenshot. This is how you see, this is what you see when you have it.30:33Not yet. And you'll plug in all your information. This one specifically for instance is Python anywhere. We'll put the URL in, we'll start it up here and then we'll use the method that we need and authentication that we need to as well. Go next.30:53Okay, and then we get that lovely description summary, same way we had it here and we hit finish and and then also I wanted to mention too additionally, will we have baked inside catalyst center, which is awesome inside our platform and developers toolkit. We get to try these.31:10Webhooks out, right? Since we're actually running through, you know, different APIs from HTTP and authentications involved and, you know, security's involved, we want to be able to test these out right before we actually go into production. And what it does is that it.31:28This, the server being catalyst center can send synthetic data to see how the tool works before you actually go into production and and deployment. So the data is a test payload to get you comfortable before going in live with that. So it gives you a good deal of processing before you actually go into production.31:44And this is what we want to see once we're testing it, right? So we put in information where this is all test information here. This hypothetical.32:04Set up and it will publish it. And then what we want to see outside of that publishing is this right here, right? So, the, the setup connection or the channel connection is rest, which is REST API, and we want to make sure that the status shows success and show that the round time was accepted and.32:14And it went through there was NO error messages or anything.32:34And whether it's an error message you know it's being sent so so when the receiver or the server sends it to the receiver, this is only showing that it successfully gotten to the receiver, right? So for my next slide here is just showing that the the error message actually.32:37Went over to the Webex receiver here and we can see some of the processes here. This is a successful connection or sexual publish, right? I didn't want you to get confused on the the red of it being an error. No, this is.32:57Successfully received the synthetic data that we were able to to run through. So now you can just set up your APIs and set up your, your receiver set up for the rest API there, right? So we see this, we know that it, it actually gotten to your Webex receiver or webhook receiver?33:11And we're good and we're golden. All right, and so let's see how it looks in motion feature, right? So we could take a look at now that we have this set up and we know the synthetic data here and it's all in production, so.33:30Well, we can select the issue and we can just pretty much make sure that the issue that it shows there it received inside our receiver here. So we're using Jenkins server Ubuntu process and we can see our error message that matches within catalyst center, right? So that's what I really wanted to.33:46Make sure you show, so that that's the step process of testing it and using it there too as well. So you can test it and try it out within catalyst center and then go full on production and just make sure that it.34:05The round trip happened and you're good to go. All right. So that was web hooks. And so I, you know, like I said, I was gonna touch on some rest API stuff cause this is a good segue into cohosts part of the presentation here. I just wanted to mention what was.34:17The difference and I mentioned it already before, but I just want to emphasize here webhooks is from a service perspective pushing down to the client, but with REST APIs, this is from the client perspective pushing to the server, right? These are some of the methodologies that we have post Git.34:35Put delete methods. All of this is all baked inside catalyst center and you'll be able to see it within a cohort presentation, but I just wanted to mention the difference there for a good segue into rest APIs and go a little bit deeper into that. So hopefully you've enjoyed this presentation, this part of the presentation I'm gonna pass it over to.34:53Cohort to get a little deeper into REST APIs and some more integrations here. Over to you.35:13Off I'm gonna pass the ball over here. Oh, there you go. Yes, thank you yeah so I will talk about rest API in this session but this will be the overview. I will not go in.35:19Into the implementation because it can be a really long session. We will have that session for years and for sure. After that I will talk about integration with the now that we will do.35:39Demos and and talk about the option that you can do with that. So let's go back to the API right centers, we, we have a center since 2018 and we support REST API from day one. That is that is.35:59Our attention because we want the country centers to be the platform that the customer can utilize them, utilize it, right? The information and can use the, the API interface to perform.36:19The tasks that can do using a GUI, so you can we can create your you can create your own applications or with the remit unremit you know.36:36Way to do that based on whatever we support on the center using the the API, right? With the other system. So with that right we we have the rest API in 2018 and then we want to to help the customer to, to consume it faster.36:53Having only API is not enough because API with the API you do you if you're using Python, you will have to create your own function to deal with all authentications or all the tasks or the data structure. So we, we developed I mean there's.37:13Cisco developer Python SDK to help you consume the API faster. You we have the Python SDK on 2019 on every version of twenty.ten we always have the Python SDK to to support.37:33All the API endpoint on on each version.37:53And then we we know that our customer not only use Python, they also use and terraform. So we also support model to support all the API in the centers from 2020 and and we have that model in the.37:55We also support terraform, ask the center provider in the terraform configuration so can you can use the Terraform to too many center resources in inside the terraform using the platform as a.38:16And minute centers infrastructure as support and and from from all these things like based on our data, there are more than 45 % of our customers utilize some kind of API call every, every years. We already support more than 1000 APIs.38:35We we increased the number of API in point in 2000 into the 309 right more than 250 API in point we we support more. And we will commit to continue at more API in point based on your requirements, ok, that you submit to us.38:56And this is just a brief history about the API. I will talk about API REST API 1st. What, what you need to understand when you want to work with Cisco.39:15I mean center, 1st thing is the API versioning, right? If you go to you will see all your developer.cisco.com right? You'll see that some API, they, they are more than.39:28One API endpoint to do the same thing, right? Sometimes we have version one and sometime we and and sometime we have, we also have version two for some API endpoint. The the reason we we have that because we we thought the requirement from the customers that we, they, they want more information.39:45Sometime is because the the 1st API endpoint doesn't.40:05Doesn't doesn't scale enough. So, so there are many reasons that a developer need to to to update the API. The 1st the 1st thing that our developer will do is they, they will try to.40:11To add more feature on the same API endpoint. Sometime you see it right some some API in point we we have more query parameters. Sometimes we we can provide more information using the same endpoint. But if the developer cannot do.40:27Then we need to develop the new endpoint to to do to do to to support more features. So, so there's possible that we we have version one endpoint and point or API that.40:44Mostly have created the same form form, same kind of information but in the in the more scalable way, sometime something like that, right? The the reason I I I talk about this because I want you to understand how to choose endpoint. When you.41:00To get into this situation let, do you, you check two things you need to check. There is a sunset pack on the API point and another thing is the.41:20On the endpoint. When, when we have the newer version, right? When we think that the new version is ready, we are going to start the process to deprecate that the the 1st version by put the 1st version with the sunset tag.41:37And after the sunset tab, right, as the sunset tab will be on on on one release, the whole release, and then the net version of centers, we will move that API endpoint into the precared.41:55Period. For for the period, right? The our developer will will make sure that we we support that at least through the centers release version or.42:11One years, whatever longer, so you will have at least one year for two people, actually not one year, one and a half year if you have the sunset period also to prepare to migrate to the newer version of the API endpoint. That is that is what.42:26What.42:46What I I I would like to suggest, but if you start working with the center API and you say API with sunset and another endpoint without sunset, I recommend you to use the the newer version of API endpoint unless there's some.42:47I don't believe that will happen. You you need to use the 1st the earlier version to get the information, ok? That is the 1st thing we want to talk in this session. 2nd thing is about the scal scalability about the API endpoint. They, they.43:07Many time right you use API because you want to query information from from many times it's not just one single object. It can be multiple objects like all the devices in the center, all the clients in the centers, all the interfaces, right?43:27This this kind of information right is the last data set.43:46Cisco recommend you to to use reports to to do this. 1st, if, if the reports support the information you want, we support around I think 65 reports right now and we also support report. You can also use.43:51API to generate a report and download the report. Report is.44:10The the scalable way to, to get the bowl data from the centers. But if you cannot find the the report to to do that, that 2nd option is use the bow operations. The bow operation is the API.44:15That you say that is using post method.44:36If you see the API endpoint get can this can get your information using the post method and you want to get the data set, use the post method API endpoint, ok, to download those information. And then if, if you cannot find anything to get that information, feel free.44:39You still be able to use the but it will not very scaled so you didn't have to check the.45:00The number of API call that you can do per per minute for for that operation API endpoint, that is 2nd thing we want to talk in this session. The 3rd thing is about the rate and concurrent limit.45:07For the API endpoint that we support on the centers. By default, every endpoint, right? We, we, we, we have the default default rate limit to I think at least eight 100.45:23API call per minute. So if if and and it will stay in in the document. If, if it doesn't have in the document please please remember this that every API in the centers, API endpoints, it support 100.45:39API calls per per minute, but there there will be some API call that you can do more than 100, right? E.g., this get device interface start info which can support 500 requests per minute. So for this this endpoint, you can do up to 500 requests.45:58There will be the, the rate limit information for, for those in points that have lower than higher than requests per minute, ok? And, and for the country centers, we we do this rate limit per API endpoint.46:18So we don't have the latest for the whole system. So, so combine them together for every invite that you call per per minute, it can be thousands of API calls per minute to the center. Okay.46:35That can be done. Next is the the tools that you can use to work with the Cisco Center of rest API. The 1st two is the software developer kit for Python. We know that the customer want to use our API, right?46:51And most of the customers use Python, they know Python. If.47:11If you don't use Python SDK, you'll still be able to to to create your own lively, too many talking, to minute, to look into the API in point of main right call and then do create a function to call.47:15For those API but but you will need to understand if you already do that it's ok because many people are comfortable to, to do that but but if but for for for for for the customer that.47:32May may not have any experience with Python. Feel free to use Python SDK. The benefit using Python SDK is Python SDK will mean the the.47:47Talking for you, so you can just call a Python SDK create a center object, and then it automatically automated with the container center for you and make and and then ignore the center talking right have only one 60 min.48:03Talking lives, so it will take care the reauthentication also for you and for every API endpoint it it knows the request data payloads. So in in in to call the the API endpoint using kind of.48:20Is the SDK, you don't need to.48:39To understand the data structure for for the request payload much you just need to supply the input data that require for for for that endpoint and then you will get the response and the can also.48:43Meaning as the the communication between the centers and and your application. So, so feel free to to use it. We, we have this to to make to to your life easier to adopt our country CENTERPI and.49:02For this, right? One thing you need to understand is because country center.49:22Every version we we add more API. So before you you select you you use this you know you need to know what is your center version and then and then look into the and then look into the documentation, you will know that you will see the compatible catalyst.49:26Centers SDK version that can work with your center version. If you cannot see it because maybe the 1st week or second week after the centers released that version to the three.7..49:46Ten maybe or eleven, we don't have the center SDK yet. The recommendation is use the the version that is that is one step after the version that you are using in in your centers. So e.g. you were using tool.50:03And in the SDK website we have two.three.7.nine.ten.50:24The live test, then you use that instead. Yeah, that that will be the closest Python SDK that's that that you should should use. And we have all these information in the developer.cisco.com and also the GitHub that I will do.50:30Talking too.50:50In the future slide after this. 2nd developer tool that we helped, we develop to help the customer is we know the customer many customer using ansible, right? So, so we we have the Ansible model for every API for every.50:52API support on the centers the the model you can download it from is this is this certified by Red Hat and also certified by the community? There are both a document in the community and the red and.51:13And and red hat. So, but before you, you download it, make sure that you check the compatibility metric 1st because the same thing we have many API endpoints.51:33Different on every version, so check the version 1st for the model it used Python SDK as a foundation to support to create model. So you will need 1st thing, you need to to select the Python SDK that.51:47And then you select the Ansible model that version.52:09Similar in the document, right? You will find this metric check your version 1st and then check the SDK version and if you cannot find use the same rule. So e.g. we have two.three.ten. We don't find that in that version here.52:16Instead and select centers.52:38Model version two.one.four and Python SDK version 2.3.7.95. That is the recommend that recommend from Cisco, ok? Not only this.52:42Using ansible, right? We know that it's painful to create a playbook and you need to create at the time, right? And every time one API endpoint that is not really productive for the customer. So Cisco developer help create the.52:57The workflow model in the workflow model it will combine all the API endpoint into one task. So you don't have to call many API call for to do to do that workflow anymore. We support will support templates.53:16Provisioning workflow, so you can just use this.53:36Workflow model, call the workflow model, create the workflow model, give c create the workflow tracks, give them the input, and then it will call all the API that that will will that that will use to call center to perform that workflow.53:40For you. So that is another option. If you can find a workflow that match what you, you need, feel free to use workflow model for the and the last thing for is because this is a Cisco.54:00Model, right? So cisco tech engineer can support it. So you so if you have the issues you can open the case for Cisco and last developer toolkit that we support is the goal SDK and the.54:18Provider. We also have the centers providers so you can add the center provider into the and then you can put, you know, supply that.54:38Username and password, but I really recommend that you don't put it into the configuration file because it will have the security issues put it into environment variable instead, right? And then you can manage the resource, the country center as a resource as a code in the using the.54:53You can create the whole site hierarchy by have the telephone configuration inside the configuration file as a resource and then you can update it in in that file.55:13So so you can think that you use centers as a, as a platform and use a form 2 min. The form will will will keep the status of the, of all resources that are in, in the system.55:32Okay, same thing before you use this, check the version 1st and then download the version that compatible with your centers. We we do have already developer.cisco.com and.55:50Yeah on their phone documentation. Thank you. Okay, so for, for the resource for the rest API, 1st not.56:07Other than the is the the the 1st resort, right? But it's not, it doesn't have you can test on all the Cisco Center GUI, but it doesn't have all the information. I recommend you to go check developer.cisco.com.56:24It's also have the API open API API specification. Many passwords already familiar with whiteboarding using AI, right? Without the open API specification when you ask AI to to create the function to call authentication centers.56:42Or or or some.57:03Some API endpoint high if there is a high high high possibility that AI will have to have high origination and create the wrong wrong API endpoint or ducing the the wrong.57:05Request payroll, those kind of things, right? Using that with open open API specification you can download from document.cisco.com developer.cisco.com and then you can use it with your AI.57:25It will, it will and and you can develop your own application faster. Yeah, it can, you know, before you you may need maybe a day or two one function and test it using this together can be like.57:43Within an hour or less than that. Many times can be faster like you know five to 10 min, yeah. Other than that right in the developer.cisco.com you can can find sandbox to to test center, you, you can find.58:03The the lab many lab that you can learn from it and many things also the the sample code from, from the.58:22From the other Cisco customers and Cisco employees, those, ok. Another is is on github. Cisco view right we they they have the enterprise programmability GitHub organization here they are also the document, but.58:30Most importantly is a sample code. So for every SDK that it all in.58:50In this session, they have a sample code that you can look and download it from from from from from this website and and it is a good start for you if you want to to learn more about how to use Python SDK, how to create.58:57Get the playbook, how to create form.59:16Providers and configuration, ok? Next is the ok can collect all, all the data from, from.59:21For many products, right? And then you can use the data and from the data you can create a custom dashboard. And many times if you have Spark already.59:36And you think that country center can cannot provide you the the information you want in in using in the dashboard in in product you we can have a spam to create that custom dashboard, right? For you. But we have to integrate with the center 1st. Therefore.59:51No way to integrate with the centers. 1st is using the add on application.01:00:11In the spark base. You can find in the spark base. Second, second option is your webhook, webhook that Jared already talked about in, in the in the in the 1st 1st slide, right? In the 1st.01:00:181st section and then you we have another another option you if you familiar with Python, you, you know how to query the, the API endpoint, right? Get the data you can create a Python script load into the and then will will run the script.01:00:34Every 5 min every 10 min based on your your configuration, query your data, put into the indexer and then you can create a custom dashboard by create by build your other SPL port to query the data and then create the dashboard that you want.01:00:57That that is the right way. The 4th way is you can use syslog notification, you can create notification from the Spark.01:01:14Okay, so 1st way that I'm will talk here is using the application. You can find it in the user centers and then it will show you four application you will wonder which one you want to use, right? So use the 1st two.01:01:24Hundred Center app and center app on app.01:01:45If you only have country centers in your network 2 min so so this is only for the centers. Country center and on app is an application that will mean the data that we hearing and put into the indexer. The Center app will.01:01:48Create the dashboard for you, right? The building dashboard that we support from from the health, from the issues, those type of things. The other two applications were force plan and these two applications.01:02:08Is for the if for the customer that have more than that have more that that have the product other than the center, they may have SD WAN product. They may have ice. These two application will, will also support those those products.01:02:26So if you have well not only center, you can use this product also, ok? To install this, right? There's two way, the 1st way is you download is from the and then install it from your workstation upload it into your.01:02:43Server. 2nd way is you'll you you you go to this log into the Splunk, go to the app and then search for Cisco Catalyst.01:03:04You find these two applications, you can install either one 1st, you can, but you need to install both, ok? After install both application, you will be able to see this dashboard after you select the center up here.01:03:15Okay, another way to indicate right using the Spunk syslog as and and use center to send this so 1st thing you need to configure a UDP destination on Splunk.01:03:31Or TCP destination on depend on whether you use using UDP or importantly important thing just make sure that you you note this UDP port or TCP port.01:03:50In your north because we have to use this in the center configuration. After you add this, you go back to the centers, go to system settings and search for destinations as the same place you.01:04:09You configure destination, click the syslog, right? And then add the syslog destination, put the address server IP address, put the port number that you configure on the front and you're using.01:04:24So if you're using UDP say UDP if you're using this same with this right you can you add the And and then you go back to the event notification at this at this after destination in in and and into the sub three.01:04:42And then use you can test it in the event notification page.01:05:02Okay, and this is a sample syslog message that ok then and you see there's this is actually the same format as the the information that we send us sent to.01:05:08To using the webhook, webhook, webhook message, ok? So let's go to the demo. If you install the center application.01:05:27Do do we have this Cisco Center application here? You can select the timeframe and you can select many that's pre built real pre built dashboard here for the client help. This client help, right, is used the API call.01:05:46That I talked before.01:06:04Who pull all the client information from the centers and then create this dashboard. So you can use this dashboard, right? So you don't have to give the permission for for the other person to to get locked into centers and and check the information.01:06:08You can show our information from from the and if you click any link here, it will cross open the client 360 on the centers if it's the the device health.01:06:28If you click the device IP address, it will go direct to the centers and open the device train the for that device also. So this this this the dashboard that after you install the center application, you have all this.01:06:46In the spark, ok? You can filter select the device that based on device name, you feel can filter based on the visibility or filter based on the minutes. For for each device we all we not only have the device information but also the all the info.01:07:05Statistic on that device here. You can filter based on the location also.01:07:26Okay, not only this, we also support issues after this right in the demo to you can select the issues dashboard. If you show all the issues that.01:07:33Happened on the centers but you we know alright the center only keep 60 issue for 60 days so more than 60 days it will override overwritten. So using this integration, you you will have the all the history about the issue that happened in your.01:07:48So you can do span to keep historical data for all the issue happened and.01:08:08And then you can also have this dashboard to show all the issues. Not only issue we also support security advisory, so the same for the information that we can cury from from the center using the security advisory API.01:08:15We have this dashboard.01:08:35Okay, and you can always close and open back to the center to see what is that security issue is, ok? So this is the sample of the dashboard after you used.01:08:38You will have this, right? If if the all these dashboard right cannot.01:09:01Cannot meet your requirement because you may need the the dashboard that show maybe row access point, right? Row information or threat information you use you can do custom integration using the API, create a script using the.01:09:06The Python script load into the into the and let the script download the raw information thread information and create this dashboard.01:09:26Create the custom dashboard based on the requirement that you have. Yeah, that's that that is another option that, ok, that we can integrate with. Next is the ServiceNow integration.01:09:37Yep, we know that customer use ITSM I follow an ITSM process for when if you follow ITSM you may use ServiceNow and ServiceNow you can use instead when you have the issues you need to create.01:09:52Instant and lock all the other information.01:10:12You know how to troubleshoot the issue, how how do you do thing to understand the root cause of the issues and then when when the issue is solved, you will have to quote the issue like if you do something now do.01:10:16You you know that you can use it within our 2 min problem same thing like the issue like the incident similar to incident you you need to do some manual process to do that. And also change requests change minutes, when you do upgrade software on the career centers, you will need to create request before.01:10:32To do that, right? And, and, and, and without the integration you need to do it manually.01:10:52For the same DB database you use so with now 2 min all the inventory or the assets into your infrastructure, right? Have the all all the network divide in in the same DB database and for.01:10:58On the device, how how you use those device devices. So, so this kind of thing, right? If you don't have integration, somehow you need to, to, to, to do this. You may need to do it manually or you may need to, to have some way to, to maybe update that's the MDB database.01:11:15Upload the CSV file to create the CI or you may have to have some other way to query the device directly.01:11:35And and get the device information. Yeah, that that that that can be done but but with the country center and ServiceNow integration, we try to create to to make your life is easy make it more productive, right? So, so with this integration.01:11:43We support same DB database synchronization automatically from the center inventory, we support using the actual issues when when the issue center automatically opened the incident for you. We can.01:12:01We also support chain requesting the using ServiceNow for for many automation workflow for when you provision the template, you can create.01:12:21Country centers will automatically create a training page for you and somebody will have to approve it before can actually push the configuration configuration to the device, right? And this is automation. The last use case that we support, right? I.01:12:37In in in the product is the endpoint synchronization. We know we when if you.01:12:56Already integrated with ICE, we know that we we do a device in point profiling with ice, right? We know the device, what is the device time and many information from ICE, but it may not enough so we now have more information in the same DB database. We.01:13:03You can use this endpointition to get more information from ServiceNow and update into individual endpoint. So that that these are four use cases that we support.01:13:23Now in product using the this Cisco catalyst application in the ServiceNow. We have this in the ServiceNow.com. You will find this application with this right is.01:13:37It supports cross blue automation, so after you install the application, this application will take care of the data that's use REST API call ServiceNow.01:13:54Right, after you install the application, this application also install all the script or the table that will update the data through servicenow. And then this application will, will take care how to interpret that data and move the data from this staging table.01:14:09Tools now table, e.g., if you update data to DB database table and and populate the data in the database. If it's incident, it takes care the the incident information that can send us.01:14:29Call the API on on ServiceNow and create incidents for you. So this is this is the application, but not only that, right? Center application also need to update the information back to.01:14:48Country centers instead. So with this, right, we need the server to take care of the communication from the ServiceNow back to the country center without meet server you will not be able to do a. Using this center application because you need.01:15:06Get Somebody to approve the the request right before before can can upgrade somewhere and after it approved country center app here need to place the instruction and call the country center.01:15:26In inside your network. It cannot do that because the country center is inside your network after the firewall and using the private IP address. So we need this meet server. Meet server will pull the the queue, the instruction queue on the ServiceNow, and if there is an instruction from the country center, it will follow the instruction.01:15:43And call the API on the center and update those information back to the center. In this make the cross cross loop automation. So if you want if we use country center application, I recommend you to have the server I believe you already have the server in your network, so you can utilize the same many.01:16:03Server or you can spin the new server to support this function.01:16:23Okay, but if you don't have this, we still can integrate with the ServiceNow without the application, we, but it will be one way of communication because center will only.01:16:28Be only be, only can send the the API call, right? There's a API to call to be now will not be able to call back through the center. Actually, it can but but it will be more complicated because you have to create a many script many function to call back.01:16:46The Center for you. You have the center approach center app take all the API center for you, ok? So this is another option but it requires some customization. The 1st option that we recommend is using the center application and.01:17:05You can find.servicenow.com. Okay, before, before you install you check in the center version document the the document, the ITSM configuration guide based on the center version that you are using it will tell you.01:17:25What is the version that that you should at which you should use?01:17:45Two tools installed in the ServiceNow to support your your center version. E.g., if I'm using three.two.one, right, it may tell me to install at least center application version two.three.one.01:17:52And right now we already have at least center application to the on ServiceNow so so you can use a lightest version and the the information here is the the minimum version that's that you choose to use for the center application in on on the ServiceNow, ok?01:18:07To to configure this, right? 1st thing you need to do is configure the callback IP address because this callback IP IP address is, is the way that ServiceNow call call use the API call.01:18:28Back to the center. If you have more than one interface on the center, you may have interface and you need to tell catch center what is the IP address that it should use to talk with the other the external system. This is required and and you need to do it 1st. Okay, after that you need to add.01:18:44The IDEASM destination at your instance at the use at the integration user and the password. This is the integration user. Each user right here, the integration user is required some.01:19:04Some prerequisite roles that it need to talk with the with the ServiceNow. You can find the prerequisite roles in in the installation guide. If you go to the store the service now.com, download the installation guide. In the installation guide search for integration.01:19:19User, it will tell you the role that you need to put.01:19:38For for these indication users, so the center can talk with ServiceNow. You may need to talk with that ServiceNow admin to do that, ok? And after you add this, check the connectivity if the connectivity is attribute, you click that, ok? And then you will have the option to enable this.01:19:42For use case CMDB synchronization is ok? After you configure that right and enable the bundle, you will find that bundle in the.01:19:59Platform in many and then you enable the bundle. I I didn't show it here. After you do that, right? You and you do the session, you can come here in the runtime dashboard. You can find more all information about how the center update the image.01:20:15To the same DB database. If it's successful, you will see that it's successful, if it fails, it will tell you how it failed and then you can go to the into looking to the same DB database table, ok? So for the the location that's this table, then.01:20:34Do you update this inventory too?01:20:54And then you will find more info all the device here. Click on the device you you will find all the attribute automatically up there from the center. You see that this all this information is actually from the country centers including the site hierarchy.01:21:00The role of the device Mac address, model number, serial number, device status, and can we center update this every every day maximum, so you can update this maximum every day, but you can also update it every week or every month it's up to you, but right now we support.01:21:17It's every day, ok?01:21:37Next is the incident that go to incident, ok? So after you have the integration for the incident management, you can go to this platform, go to.01:21:42And when when you have the issue right there you see this we have to infect connecting network device now issues, you can go to platform in the early version before to the you you go to runtime dashboard.01:21:58Go to event summary, you will see that create the instant new instant for for that issue for you. But for after two or three, there is a new new menu called event summary menu under the same location. So you you click that event summary menu. You will find a new instant here.01:22:15In the new instandard, right? All the information here is automatically populated by this new tab, Cisco tab. You can find more information about the new device, more information for more information about the action and also this one.01:22:34Command output because this is a course loop that application that you installed in the ServiceNow, right? It's automatically called API call and and issue all the command for you and and put all the, the output here. So you have all the all the information for.01:22:54After I mean for for the troubleshooting here and then after this issue resolved, I mean issues in the center is auto resolved.01:23:14Right? And and then here you see right every everything yeah and this is the message that send up update with with the ServiceNow and ServiceNow send update back to.01:23:23Data center, if you go to the incident and then we call the incident, right?01:23:43Yeah, we resolved incident, whether we resolve it manual, some incident will resolve with other after it's resolved here and you will see that the the issue.01:23:49And the incident here is closed automatically, so you don't have to too many this manual anymore and also update all the note here, ok? So this is for incident management for the automation event for ITSM, right? We do support.01:24:05Server image upgrade.01:24:26At device or modifies workflow. This is for the automate for the upgrade, right? After, after we select the center pull all the device, check the the emails.01:24:31It's running on the device. If the device is not using the device that you need up there, and then you have, you, you can update.01:24:47Upgrade all device all the device at the same time, right? Create the upgrade tasks here for the step with the integration after after you have this integration, you, you, you cannot do right now anymore, you will have to schedule it because somebody will.01:24:57You have to approve this upgrade 1st, ok? So if we click next to start the upgrade, ok? After we we start upgrade, right? You go to you find upgrade tax here.01:25:17Go to the task summary activity here. You will see that the software email upgrade is have the new tab called IDEASM ticket submitted. So you go to the platform.01:25:36Of event summary.01:25:55You'll see the chain request ID. You can click that link go go direct to the ServiceNow chain request and then you can check all the information here. If you you are the approve approve the person that can approve the request, check on.01:25:58For the information here is tell you what is the network device going to be upgraded, why, why we need to up to upgrade it because it's outdated.01:26:17And then you move this change request to a schedule 1st and and then you can approve this change request, but before you do that, right, you need to assign the request to some someone so so he can approve it.01:26:25After you assigned, you can approve it. After you approve it, you move the to implement state. After the the right this center application now we automatically update that.01:26:44Back to the centers, you will find the update information here on on this IFC that this RFC is shared to instrument and is by and is have this assigned person, you go to activity and task again.01:27:02You will see that this upgrade ticket is approved and then will wait until the the start time here and then start the upgrade for you. And when it's finished, when it finished, right? If it's finished successfully center update that informa update that information.01:27:23Send back to the request and also close the ticket for you all or put this ticket into the review step so somebody will can review it and close it later.01:27:42Okay, so this is the last slide for for for me. I would like to give it back to close the session. Thank you so much. Awesome. Awesome. Yeah, thanks yeah we're gonna close out here. I'm actually gonna send in the links cause we had a bunch.01:27:54Links here. I don't know I know how that is. So I pretty much waited for the end so that we can put all that in.
