Welcome to the Nexus dashboard and a smart switch integration. In our agenda, we will see the requirements and the boarding process.00:07In order to onboard the smart switch, we will follow these steps. 1st, we'll deploy a dedicated loopback and switchboard for hypership connectivity. Second, in the fabric settings, we will enable onboarding with smart switches to hypership.00:20And finally, we will onboard this on the inventory tab. So here is our topology. Before starting the importing process in the query, we will configure the following interfaces.00:36To establish connectivity with the In this case, the API address 18818120 eight.sixty five. The loopback must be in the default BRF. The feature service acceleration and service system configuration.00:51Will be pushed from the NDFC controller once we onboard this. So before enable hyper seal at the fabric setting level, let's take a look at the loopback address.01:10In the small switch? Interfaces. And here we can see the loopback address.01:26That we had to configure previously in order to establish connectivity. Let's go back to fabric settings and now let's proceed to enable the for that we go with actions and the fabric settings.01:45Public management, hyperfill, Enable onboarding of smart switches to hyperfill, and very important, we're going to specify the loopback address, click on save.02:02And after that, you're gonna be able to see a new tab in the inventory tab that's going to give you the options to onboard this message. So now we can see that tab, the smart switch tab. Also, if you go with actions, smart switches.02:27We have the option now toward this message. Very important as well that we can see the hypership connectivity status. It is as NA as of now. So let's proceed to do the onboarding. Let's choose message.02:44And let's let's create an address integration.03:13Now the account alias is the name that we're going to give to this. The account URL is going to be the API server or them. And finally, we're gonna get an API access token from that open VM and we're gonna paste it in here.03:19Let's get a name to that called Alice. Click on URL six.03:36442. Now let's get that token. For that we're going to access the over the CLI. And we gonna get that token. Notice that as of now.03:55There is NO smart switch integrated with the designated token, let's copy.04:13Let's place the token, let's proceed with next. Now we are going to add a new association. In this case, you're going to choose or you click on save.04:40Go next and here you can see the information that we just entered. Also we can see the API address. And then continue with the onboarding with the small switches. Now we can see here.05:00That we have the options to choose the smart switch and then the final step will be to onboard it is here that some configuration is going to be pushed to the smart switch. So let's take a look.05:20Here as we can see here, feature service validation is going to be enabled in the CLI of this system, and also the token that we just got from the.05:36Now we go next, now we go over integration, you can see that now we have our integration also.06:08If you go over the admin tab integration, we can see the fabric association for that smart switch. You can see the status is more pending.06:24We have to wait a couple of minutes for this process to complete.06:53After waiting a couple of minutes, we can see now that the connectivity status is connected.07:19We can also check that connectivity from the on prem. So now you can see here, now the hypershipment can see this message.07:25We can also test connectivity from the smart switch itself. So if you go back to this and from here, you can test connectivity and everything is working fine. Thanks for watching.07:48

AI summary

This recording demonstrates how Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller (Formerly DCNM) enables Smart Switch onboarding end-to-end: deploy a dedicated loopback in the default VRF, activate onboarding in Fabric Settings, register a Smart Switch via API server URL and access token, push Service Acceleration and system settings automatically, and verify inventory, fabric association, and connectivity from both controller and device.

  • Faster deployment with a guided workflow and automatic configuration push.
  • Improved consistency by centralizing policy and loopback requirements in Fabric Settings.
  • Increased visibility using the Smart Switch tab and real-time connectivity status.
