Transcript

In this video, we'll cover claiming Cisco Unified Edge Devices using the Intersight mobile app. We'll start out with a short overview of the inter site mobile app and near field communication, also known as NFC, followed by a demo of claim.00:05Being a Cisco unified Edge device.00:20The Intersight mobile app complements the inter site platform by providing a mobility optimized connection to the resources managed in your account. You can download the inter site mobile app from the Apple app Store or Google Play store. With the mobile app, you can monitor the operations of the Cisco UCS systems track inventory, and view.00:23Alerts about impacted devices due to an outage or security advisory.00:44You can add new devices to your inter site account using the mobile app. This provides a convenient method for device onboarding without requiring access to the desktop interface. With a focused dashboard to monitor specific systems, you can quickly check the status of the desired systems receive notifications, and take remedial action.00:49Is on the impacted devices on the go.01:09The mobile app also provides a summary of the system configuration of the managed devices and provides insights into the health inventory and service status of the managed devices. You can also open Cisco tech service request and automatically generate an upload tech support diagnostic files.01:12A few items to note, the inter site mobile app is only supported on the North America SaaS region. The Intersight mobile app is not supported by the Cisco Intersight Virtual appliances. The Cisco Unified Edge supports near field communication device claim.01:32Unused in conjunction with the Cisco Intersight mobile app.01:52As you'll see in the demo in a few minutes, this is done by tapping a phone with the Intersight mobile app opened on the left side of the chassis. Before claiming the device using NFC, the device must have an IP address either via DHCP or set statically and connectivity to intersight.com.01:56The mobile app user must also have the appropriate permissions to claim new devices in the desired inner site account. In this demo, we'll go over claiming a unified edge device using the Cisco mobile app in NFC. We're using an Android device for this demo, but the steps will be similar for Apple users as well.02:13We'll start out by going to the Google play store, or in the case of an Apple device, the app store, and searching for and installing the Cisco Intersight mobile app. Once the Intersight mobile app is installed, we'll launch it from our device and log in using our credentials to Intersight.02:33Once logged into Intersight, we'll select our account and then we'll go ahead and create a pin for the mobile app. Now that we're logged in, we can view the dashboard for our Intersight account. If we click on inventory at the bottom, we can begin the process to claim the unified Edge device with NFC.02:51Here we'll be prompted for an optional tutorial, we'll go ahead and click start and then claim now into the default resource group. Now that our mobile app is ready to scan, we'll take our device and hold it against the left side of the unified Edge device to complete the device claim process.03:11Our unified edge device has now claimed in inter site using our mobile app and we can drill down to get further information on the health of the device as well as configuration details.03:29
