Hi, this is Stephen Mena from Cisco customer experience team and today we're gonna show you how to integrate your inter site and smart license platforms.00:05We're gonna show you how inter site licenses work and smart licenses as well, the smart license platform and how to integrate them. Intercept licenses are coming to flavors essentials and advantage enabling you depending on the on the license level that you have to access different features.00:17So this is something very important to keep in mind when deploying or when designing your inter site deployment.00:38Now, the licensing are the consumption for the inter site licenses actually is based on one per physical device. So one per server is basically the the the model for this licensing. Now, when accessing your inter site.00:47Account for the very 1st time, you have two options in terms of licensing. You have either the option to register your smart account or.01:07Selecting the 90 day trial license, which basically will enable you to register as many devices as you want and, and, access the full level of inter site licensing.01:19For all of these devices, just for you to have the opportunity to experience the the feature and the environment with all your devices that can be registered. Now, in terms of the usage.01:35The licenses for connected virtual appliance, which is one of the deployment options and SAS actually they worked for both environments, you know, for both deployment options. So the same licenses that you, that you acquire for SAS can be used for CVA deployments.01:51And, for.02:11Connected virtual appliance or the other deployment option that we have, which is the private virtual appliance your required the license registration trials are only for SAS deployments. One of the coolest things I think from Intersight is the one that.02:14Licenses are not linked or married to your physical devices. You can assign a license to a server and later detach it from that server and use it on another one. And inter site accounts can only be linked to one.02:33Smart account, so that's our one on one relationship here, but that's something as well to keep into consideration. Now in terms of the smart licenses, when the depending on who is the, the.02:51The account administrator on the, on the smart account you should require access. You'll need to have your Cisco user ID so for you to go to your account administra administrator and require access to the.03:07Virtual account where the licenses that you need to use are were deposited.03:27Once you have been granted this access, you will need to require, a token that later will be registered on inter site and this is something that we will see in a minute. Now, the next step here is going to intercite.com basically the.03:31To create your inter site account in case you don't have it.03:51But in case you already have an account, you will need to go to inter site.com as well and click on sign in with Cisco user ID. And, you will, in case you don't have an an account, you can come here and create.03:56A new account. So in this case you will need to select the region, you know, the closest one for you. In this case we are going to pick a US East and next you will be required to accept the general terms, the, for, for usage on.04:13This account you can read all the cisco general terms as well. We're going to go as accept them and hit next. And here you're going to select an account name that is easier for you to identify later.04:33And then you will create the account immediately. All right, that's good. The account has been immediately created, and this is the page where I, that I mentioned before, where you will require to either start the trial, the 90 day trial.04:54Now for different Cisco products that you can use for the inter site services. There are many features that you can access from here or you can go to the register licensing, which is the option that we are going to explore in this demo. Now, in this case you will require, you will be required to enter your token.05:14In which is the one that you're going to generate from the Cisco software central. When you go to Cisco Software central, you will be required to go to software.cisco.com and when you go to the main page, let me, let me go back here.05:35Just for you to see it, you won't be required to go to smart software manager and then you will access basically to the platform that you were granted access to. So in this case, you will hit inventory, and here you will see the virtual account.05:50That you're, viewing at this very moment. If you have multiple virtual accounts, remember you you will need to select the right virtual account where the licenses that you will need to use were deposited. Now, you will see, e.g., in this case when I hit licenses, you will have the visibility of all the licenses and.06:06Products that you will have access from this virtual account. Now, when hitting here in general, you will.06:27Have an option to generate a new token. So that's the token that we need to, use for integrating both platforms. Now you can here enter a description, e.g.. Let's see.06:34All right, Demo demo part purposes, and then you can select e.g. the the expiration dates here and the maximum number of users. I'm gonna put.06:52Maybe two here, alright, and we will create the token. Now the token has been generated, so right here you will be able to see it. So this is the token that you will need to copy, alright?07:08And when you come to Intersight, you will paste it right here, right? And hit next. And now intersite platform is integrating with, with the smart licensing account in order to have access.07:24Just.07:44To the devices, to have access I'm sorry to the, the licenses that were deposited. Normally this may take a couple of minutes, so let's let's see the results in a few seconds. Now when this subscription information has.07:45I mean when the licenses has been detected, we're using token, and now the the the intercept platform is going to show you this message and you will give you two options Enable subscription information basically is very.08:06Useful when, basically to have more visibility of about the number and the the licenses, the number of licenses that you have available, the usage and the next expiration date. So you can enable this option or you can skip it. I'm gonna skip for now, and now you will see.08:24The two products, e.g., that you can enable depending on the licenses that you have available on your smart account. So in this case we are going to choose infrastructure and service and cloud orchestrator and something important here is you will have an option to.08:41Select the default tier, you know, for all the servers that you have. E.g., if you don't want to set, a default tier for the servers you already have registered, you can hit e.g. M six or earlier or M six.09:02M six or an earlier with essentials or M six and earlier with advantage e.g. or all the servers that you have, and if you want to go essentials for all the servers, including the previous servers prior M six.09:18And, including M six and M seven or advantage for all of them as well, alright? In this case, I'm going to select essentials for all, and then you will be able to choose here if you want to select the default tier for all existing.09:35Servers as well. This is useful because you can either go this way or manually assign the licenses once you have integrated your devices. You confirm the products and then it will start synchronizing the smart licensing. It will take a few minutes as well, and now you will see.09:55How inter site platform is already here. Now, in case you want to check, e.g., your licenses here, but in this case we just created this this account, but if you want to go and check your licensing here, you, do have that option under the system.10:16Option here on the left hand, and you will have all the information, the compliance summary and the smart license details. In this case, we haven't added any licensing yet, but you will have information about the last synchronization date, the smart account and the virtual account where these licenses came from. So this is something very important in my.10:31Order to.10:51No or in order to see where is the the licenses, where are the licenses coming from? There's some actions here that you can enable, e.g., synchronizing the smart licensing actually will take a few hours. It will synchronize automatically after a few hours, but you can manually synchronize them. You can enable the.10:53Scripting information here in order to drag or have more visibility about the consumption, you can then register their smart license or manage different products here depending on the licenses that you have available in your smart account.11:13That will be all. Thank you for watching.11:27

Enabling Smart Licensing for Cisco Intersight is essential because it streamlines license management by offering centralized, real-time visibility and control over software licenses throughout an organization.

This centralized approach simplifies license activation and management, eliminating the need for product activation keys (PAKs) and providing a unified interface for license oversight.

The video also covers how to create an Intersight Account, which involves organizing licenses within Smart Accounts and Virtual Accounts to facilitate efficient license allocation across departments or sites. Additionally, it explains the integration and configuration process, ensuring compliance and ease of use.
