Products Affected

Problem Description

Both PA-A3-8E1IMA and PA-A3-8T1IMA Port Adapters can stop passing traffic in a 7600 Chassis using FlexWAN after a few hours.

Background

During traffic run, the IMA Port Adapter residing in a 7600 Chassis using FlexWAN can stop passing traffic after a few hours. The port adapters are listed in the Products Affected section. Resetting the FlexWAN is needed to clear this problem. However a firmware change is required from 17-5022-01 to 17-5022-02 to fix this issue.

Problem Symptoms

The end user will notice that the routing updates do not go through. A direct ping to peer also fails in addition to executing the commands shut and no shut to the PA-A3-8E1IMA and PA-A3-8T1IMA. This does not release the IBC pool buffers, these are the failure symptoms visible to the end-user customer. Resetting the FlexWAN clears the problem and restores traffic to the IMA Port Adapters in the 7600 chassis.

Workaround/Solution

Replace the affected IMA Port Adapter using Cisco System's return materials authorization (RMA) process requesting Manufacturing NEW with the 800 numbers (Top Assembly Number and Version and/or Part Number) listed in the table below:
