This document discusses Cisco CallManager software versions and provides an explanation of CallManager release numbering and naming conventions.

Cisco CallManager Release Numbering
This diagram explains Cisco CallManager release numbering:
Note: These are guidelines; there may be deviations from these guidelines which will be documented.
Note: It is also important to note that different Cisco CallManager releases require different Cisco IP Telephony Server Operating System (OS) service releases. For more information, refer to the Cisco CallManager Upgrade documentation. In order to check the OS release, refer to Check the OS Release section of this document.
Check the OS Release
In order to check the OS release on your server, complete these steps:

Click Start > Cisco OS Version:

Alternatively, start a command prompt on your server and change the directory to c:\utils.

Type mcsver at the resulting prompt.
