Feature Set Tables
The feature set tables have been removed from the Cisco IOS Release 12.3-based release notes to improve the usability of the release notes documentation. The feature-to-image mapping that was provided by the feature set tables is available through Cisco Feature Navigator.
Cisco Feature Navigator is a web-based tool that enables you to determine which Cisco IOS software images support a specific set of features and which features are supported in a specific Cisco IOS image. You can search by feature or by feature set (software image). Under the release section, you can compare Cisco IOS software releases side by side to display both the features unique to each software release and the features that the releases have in common.
To access Cisco Feature Navigator, you must have an account on Cisco.com. If you have forgotten or lost your account information, send a blank e-mail to cco-locksmith@cisco.com. An automatic check will verify that your e-mail address is registered with Cisco.com. If the check is successful, account details with a new random password will be e-mailed to you. Qualified users can establish an account on Cisco.com by following the directions found at this URL:

CSCeh29844: VG224 SCCP endpoints abnormal unregister randomly
Symptoms: When 24 phones in a Cisco VG224 are in a single shared line and another phone calls, the CME randomly unregisters then registers a few phones.
Conditions: This rarely happens. Within our lab only one testbed showed this symptom. The phones register back very soon so normal call function is not affected.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCeh44822: VG224 auto-answers a ringing overlay call when far end disc cur call
Symptoms: When more than 2 lines are within a single overlay line with multiple DNs, and 2 phones call this number at the same time, first offhook will answer first caller. The first caller goes onhook and the overlay phone stays offhook, that overlay phone will "auto-answer" the second caller.
Condition: This happens only when the phone is configured with overly "o". In case it is configured with overly "c" (meaning allowing call waiting), this will happen even less frequently. And auto-answer ringing call will not cause the port hang, it just unexpectedly answers the call.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCeh56434: Port Stuck in ONHOOK_DISCONN After SCCP Session Broken Test
Symptoms: With Cisco VG224 running Cisco IOS 12.3(11)YL, in the middle of setting up call-forward-all, after the feature code is entered, the link between the call manager and Cisco VG224 is down. After the forward destination number is typed in, the connection between the original call manager and the Cisco VG224 is restored so that the Cisco VG224 does not un-register the original call manager. At this time the endpoint with the call-forward-all could be stuck in ONHOOK_DISCONN state.
Workaround: Shut down the voice-port and do no shut down again.
•
CSCeh63426: Traceback with no stcapp/stcapp
Symptoms: With Cisco VG224 running IOS 12.3(11)YL, when a phone is off-hook, if you configure no stcapp and then stcapp in the global mode, the following tracebacks are seen:
0x60179CF4:errmsg(0x60179cd4)+0x200x6028FE34:process_enqueue(0x6028fdbc)+0x780x60A7E8DC:cc_handle_inter_digit_timer(0x60a7e75c)+0x1800x60A7EB34:cc_handle_timer_events(0x60a7eabc)+0x780x60A7ED90:cc_vcm_main(0x60a7eca4)+0xecWorkaround: Do not unconfigure stcapp or configure stcapp when any phone is off-hook.
•
CSCsa68198: Negative test case **4 plus group number cause VG224 port hang
Symptoms: The following call pickup flavors are not supported.
–
**6*
–
**6 DN
–
**3
–
**4 grp number
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCsa83667: CME controlled VG224 ports may lose registration under stress condition
Symptoms: When the Cisco VG224 is controlled by CME, under stress condition, some ports may go into the unregistered state and never go out of it. The stresses include 14 basic calls, 2 conference calls, and 2 transfer calls.
Condition: This case only happens in stress test and is not always reproducible.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
Resolved Caveats - Release 12.3(11)YL2
•
CSCeh48258: Port stuck in Switchover Pending State after WAN link failure
Symptoms: There may be an instance that the analog phone that initiates a call can lose the dial-tone if the following situation occurs:
–
The SCCP analog phone that is registered to Cisco Call Manager initiates a call to another phone.
–
That phone is put on hold while another call is being placed.
–
WAN link failure occurs resulting in switchover to the local CME router.
Condition: Analog SCCP phone may go to switchover_pending state resulting in loss of dial tone.
Workaround: Enter the no-stcapp command followed by stcapp on the Cisco VG 224 Gateway so that the phones can be registered back to CME or CCM depending on whether the WAN link has been re-established.
•
CSCsa59375: Memory leak with IP traffic @ managed_chunk_create with IP NAT
Symptoms: While testing 32k sessions on iEdge with IP sessions and NAT, there is a significant memory leak (depleted hundreds of meg RAM within a few hours).
Conditions: It appears that this memory leak is caused by mis-configured on the interfaces, inside and outside. When configured in the normal Cisco IOS manner (client=inside, network=outside), severe memory leaks occur. When configured in the iEdge manner (client=outside, network=inside), memory leak does not occur.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCsa81379: deprecate NetFlow Feature Acceleration
Symptoms: NetFlow Feature Acceleration has been deprecated and removed from Cisco IOS. The ip flow-cache feature-accelerate global command will no longer be recognized in any Cisco IOS configuration.
If your router configuration does not currently contain the ip flow-cache feature-accelerate command, this change does not affect you.
The removal of NetFlow Feature Acceleration does not affect any other aspects of Netflow operation, for example Access-list processing. The features are separate and distinct.
Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) supersedes the deprecated NetFlow Feature Acceleration.
Additionally, the following MIB objects and OIDs have been deprecated and removed from the NetfFow MIB (CISCO-NETFLOW-MIB):
cnfFeatureAcceleration 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3cnfFeatureAccelerationEnable 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.1cnfFeatureAvailableSlot 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.2cnfFeatureActiveSlot 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.3cnfFeatureTable 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4cnfFeatureEntry 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4.1cnfFeatureType 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4.1.1cnfFeatureSlot 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4.1.2cnfFeatureActive 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4.1.3cnfFeatureAttaches 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4.1.4cnfFeatureDetaches 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4.1.5cnfFeatureConfigChanges 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.99999.1.3.4.1.6Open Caveats - Release 12.3(11)YL1

CSCeh31237: Never switch to higher priority callmgr when added later
Symptoms: When the Cisco VG 224 is running 12.4(1.1) and all the endpoints are registered to any active call manager, if a higher priority call manager is added by CLI into the SCCP CCM group, the Cisco VG 224 never switches to the higher priority call manager.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCeh43214: During CCM switchover, phone continues to ring after offhook/onhook
Symptoms: When the Cisco VG 224 is running Cisco IOS 12.3(11)YL images, at the time when the phone is ringing, the Cisco VG 224 loses the connection to the active call manager, but the Cisco VG 224 is still registered to the active call manager. The phone keeps ringing until the Cisco VG 224 unregisters to the call manager or re-registers to a new call manager.
Workaround: Use the shut and no shut command in voice-port configuration mode to stop the phone from ringing.
Resolved Caveats - Release 12.3(11)YL1
•
CSCsa76182: Misbehavior of called party in conf call in CCM mode
Symptoms: Conference chaining or creating of another conference by a conference participants not the conference initiator is not supported.
Conditions: Callers A, B, and C are in conference. Caller A is the conference initiator. Caller B hookflashes and dials Caller D; Callers B and D are connected. Caller B hookflashes again to initiate another conference. This is not supported.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
Open Caveats - Release 12.3(11)YL
•
CSCeg50507: 2nd call cannot be established when one of the call is transcoding
Symptoms: G711 is the only supported codec in this phase of the project; codec mixing transcoding will be supported in the next phase.
•
CSCeg59187: Small glitch (noise) before VG 224 phone gets ringback from CME FXS
Symptoms: A small glitch (noise) is heard before ringback when a call to the FXS port of the Cisco CME is initiated.
Conditions: This noise is not heard when the IP phone calls the FSX port of the Cisco CME nor is it heard when Cisco VG 224 phone calls are made to other Cisco VG 224 phones.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCeg71058: Cancel Call Forward FAC + Phone Extension = Rings extension entered
Symptoms: On a Cisco VG 224 phone (configured in SCCP mode), when a user enters the feature access code for "cancel call forward" (**2 by default) followed by a valid dialed number (DN), the call forward is cancelled on the phone as well as the with the DN.
To fix this problem, use the following steps:
1.
Activate call forwarding on phone A by dialing **1 plus the DN extension.
2.
Cancel the call forwarding on phone A by dialing **2 then waiting for the cancel forwarding tone.
3.
Dial the DN extension for phone C
Extension C gets the ring from A, even though there was no dial tone after the FAC to cancel call forwarding was issued.
Conditions: This problem occurs only when call forward is already enabled on the phone and the DN is dialed immediately after the call forward has been activated (and before the 10 second inter digit timeout).
Workaround: Do not enter the DN extension after you have cancelled the call forward FAC.
•
CSCeg27515: show voice call status empty while making calls to/from Cisco VG 224.
Symptoms: show voice call status shows "No active calls found" when the stcapp endpoint has an active call. There is no impact on the call.
Conditions: This problem is platform independent: this happens on all Skinny Cisco IOS voice gateways when service stcapp is configured under POTS dial-peer.
Workaround: You can use other show commands to do similar debugging instead of show voice call status. Use show stcapp device sum, show stcapp device voice-port <x>, and show voice dsp as alternates.
Resolved Caveats - Release 12.3(11)YL
•
CSCef97703: No dial-tone after an extended warning period warning tone
Symptoms: This problem is caused by the way the interdigit timer is handled by Cisco CME and the Cisco VG 224.
Conditions: The interdigit timer can be configured on both CME and Cisco VG 224 with a default value of 10 seconds, which means that both Cisco CME and the Cisco VG 224 can issue the warning tone when the 10 second timer expires. This sometimes causes a race condition for the warning tone issuing side. The problem does not happen if debugs are turned on.
Workaround: The work around for this issue is by increasing the interdigit timeout value on the Cisco VG 224 from the default value of 10 seconds to the slightly higher value of 15 seconds, as shown below:
gw(config-voiceport)# timeouts initial 15gw(config-voiceport)# timeouts interdigit 15•
CSCeg00530: Inconsistent behavior during call-park for local and H323
Symptoms: This problem is caused by H450 call transfer behavior.
Conditions: The short ringing sound is heard when a new call is initiated during the H450 transfer, which is normal behavior, but the ringing sound will not be heard during a local call with another IP phone. This problem does not interrupt any features.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCeg09768: No busy/warning tone played for call hanged up during call waiting
Symptoms: When A calls B and A and B talk, C calls B and B hears the call waiting tone. If A hangs up, B will hear dead silence. If B hangs up with A, B can talk to C if B is offhook or if B hookflashes to connect to C.
Workaround: There is no workaround.
•
CSCeg42217: No dial-tone on hookflash if on-hold
Symptoms: Involves two parities (A and B in this example) who are in conversation. When A does a hook flash and tries to transfer the phone to the transfer target C, A will hear the dial tone indicating that A can dial an extension and connect to transfer target. In the mean time, B is put "on-hold" so that B's call is terminated but the call is still connected.
At this time, we block the hook flash handling. This will disallow the side that is put on hold (which is party B in our case) to make a transfer. This is to stop the chain of uncertainty if the party that is on hold wants to make a transfer.
Conditions: This is only applicable on the analog skinny endpoint connecting to Cisco CME and only affects the Cisco VG 224. No command-line interface (CLI) is involved.
Workaround: There is no workaround.

Cisco IOS Software Documentation Set
The Cisco IOS software documentation set consists of the Cisco IOS configuration guides, Cisco IOS command references, and several other supporting documents.
Release 12.3 of the Cisco IOS documentation set follows the custom of prior releases in providing configuration guides, command references, and supporting documents. It differs from other recent major releases in these respects:
•
Documents are delivered online, in PDF and HTML formats, and are not orderable as printed books.
•
For IPv6 and Voice documentation, Cisco IOS Release 12.3 configuration information is integrated. A Cisco IOS IPv6 configuration library consists of implementation guides and a Start Here document, and a Cisco IOS Voice configuration library consists of configuration guides, application guides, and new-feature documentation.
•
Other configuration content new to Cisco IOS Release 12.3 is provided in the form of links to new-feature documents from a virtual (online) configuration guide for each technology area. (In previous major Cisco IOS releases, configuration content was integrated into standalone configuration guides.) The virtual configuration guide highlights information that is new in the release in a framework that references familiar Cisco IOS Release 12.2 documentation. Related feature information is grouped together. This organization is a step toward bringing a stronger user- and task-based focus to Cisco IOS documentation.
Note
In some cases, information contained in the new-feature documentation for Cisco IOS Release 12.3(1) and early-deployment Cisco IOS releases numbered 12.2T augments or supersedes content in the Cisco IOS Release 12.2 configuration guides. New-feature documentation in later 12.2T releases may replace new-feature documentation in earlier 12.2T releases.
•
The set of new-feature documents published since Cisco IOS Release 12.2 is consolidated into a single downloadable PDF file for each technology area that is covered by a virtual configuration guide and a command reference.
•

The Cisco Technical Support Website on Cisco.com features extensive online support resources. In addition, Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) engineers provide telephone support. If you do not hold a valid Cisco service contract, contact your reseller.

Note
Use the Cisco Product Identification (CPI) tool to locate your product serial number before submitting a web or phone request for service. You can access the CPI tool from the Cisco Technical Support Website by clicking the Tools & Resources link under Documentation & Tools. Choose Cisco Product Identification Tool from the Alphabetical Index drop-down list, or click the Cisco Product Identification Tool link under Alerts & RMAs. The CPI tool offers three search options: by product ID or model name; by tree view; or for certain products, by copying and pasting show command output. Search results show an illustration of your product with the serial number label location highlighted. Locate the serial number label on your product and record the information before placing a service call.
Submitting a Service Request
Using the online TAC Service Request Tool is the fastest way to open S3 and S4 service requests. (S3 and S4 service requests are those in which your network is minimally impaired or for which you require product information.) After you describe your situation, the TAC Service Request Tool provides recommended solutions. If your issue is not resolved using the recommended resources, your service request is assigned to a Cisco TAC engineer. The TAC Service Request Tool is located at this URL:
http://www.cisco.com/techsupport/servicerequest
For S1 or S2 service requests or if you do not have Internet access, contact the Cisco TAC by telephone. (S1 or S2 service requests are those in which your production network is down or severely degraded.) Cisco TAC engineers are assigned immediately to S1 and S2 service requests to help keep your business operations running smoothly.
To open a service request by telephone, use one of the following numbers:
Asia-Pacific: +61 2 8446 7411 (Australia: 1 800 805 227)
EMEA: +32 2 704 55 55
USA: 1 800 553-2447For a complete list of Cisco TAC contacts, go to this URL:

Definitions of Service Request Severity
To ensure that all service requests are reported in a standard format, Cisco has established severity definitions.
Severity 1 (S1)—Your network is "down," or there is a critical impact to your business operations. You and Cisco will commit all necessary resources around the clock to resolve the situation.
Severity 2 (S2)—Operation of an existing network is severely degraded, or significant aspects of your business operation are negatively affected by inadequate performance of Cisco products. You and Cisco will commit full-time resources during normal business hours to resolve the situation.
Severity 3 (S3)—Operational performance of your network is impaired, but most business operations remain functional. You and Cisco will commit resources during normal business hours to restore service to satisfactory levels.
Severity 4 (S4)—You require information or assistance with Cisco product capabilities, installation, or configuration. There is little or no effect on your business operations.
