Introduction

A MUSLIES setup is one where there are multiple Cisco Unity servers in the same Exchange site, but they are independent of each other. This means that their objects coexist in the Exchange directory, but each server can only administer ones that pertain to its Cisco Unity location.

Prerequisites

Requirements

There are no specific requirements for this document.

Components Used

This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.

Conventions

Refer to Cisco Technical Tips Conventions for more information on document conventions.

Procedure

Complete these steps:

  1. Update the location objects on the other Unity servers if this is not the first server in the MUSLIES setup.

    • Give each location a unique name.

    • Give each location a unique ID.

  2. Install Exchange on the Cisco Unity server.

    • Create a new site or choose in order to join an existing site if this is the first server in the MUSLIES setup. This depends on the needs of the customer.

    • Choose in order to join the existing Exchange site that the other Cisco Unity server(s) are installed in if this is not the first server in the MUSLIES setup.

  3. Install the necessary Exchange service pack.

  4. Make sure that Exchange replication has occurred, and that the server where you install has a current copy of the Exchange directory.

  5. Run Cisco Unity setup. Choose Create a new Cisco Unity Location when prompted to create a new location or join one.

  6. Continue with setup. The setup proceeds similar to a fresh install.

  7. Restart the system. Cisco Unity launches after the system restarts.

Note: Do not use a pre-2.4.5 DohPropKiller. Pre-2.4.5 DPK is not MUSLIES compliant and removes all Cisco Unity information, not just information for a particular location. 2.4.5 DPK removes information for the current location only. If you need to remove all Cisco Unity information in a MUSLIES setup, run the 2.4.5 DPK at each location. DPK is for Technical Support use only.
