Introduction

The Cisco Unity Installation Guide describes how to install the NIMDA patch on Cisco Unity component systems. (The patch is already installed on baseline systems.) However, the patch does not appear on the Service Pack disc.

This document describes how to download a Security Update from the Microsoft website and install it on the Cisco Unity server.

Downloading and Installing the NIMDA Patch

The following procedure describes how to download and install the NIMDA patch from the Microsoft website.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Complete these steps:

  1. Download the NIMDA patch from the Microsoft webpage leavingcisco.com.

  2. Print the page so you can use the installation instructions that appear at the bottom of the page.

  3. When the Cisco Unity Installation Guide directs you to install the NIMDA patch on the Cisco Unity server, use the instructions that you printed in Step 1.

Verifying the Installation

This section provides information you can use to confirm that the NIMDA patch was installed properly.

  1. On the Window Start menu, select Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

    If the NIMDA patch was successfully installed, the Currently Installed Programs list contains the item “Windows 2000 Hotfix (Pre-SP3) [See Q301625 for more information].”

  3. Click Close to close the window.
