Introduction

Microsoft IIS allows a Windows NT Server to utilize multiple IP addresses for multiple web sites. This document describes the process used to assign a different IP address to Cisco MeetingPlace Web than the IP address for the rest of the Windows NT Server.

There are no specific requirements for this document.

Components Used

The information in this document is based on the Cisco MeetingPlace Web, all versions. This is not applicable to Cisco MeetingPlace Web version 4.3 or later with the MeetingPlace IP Gateway installed on the same machine.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Assign the IP Address to the Server

Complete these steps to assign the IP address to the server:

Note: If this is already done, you can skip this section.

1. Obtain the new IP address and subnet mask that will be installed on the NT server.

2. Log on to the NT Server as an Administrator (or to an account with Administrator privileges).

3. Right-click the Network Neighborhood icon on the desktop, and choose Properties.

4. Click the Protocols tab.

5. Double-click TCP/IP Protocol.

6. Click Advanced.

7. Under IP Addresses, click Add.

8. Enter the new IP address and subnet mask.

9. Click Add.

10. In the Advanced IP Addressing window, click OK.

11. In the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties window, click Apply, then click OK.

12. In the Network window, click OK.

13. Reboot the NT Server.

Assign the IP Address to Cisco MeetingPlace Web

Complete these steps to assign the IP address to Cisco MeetingPlace Web:

1. Log on to the NT Server as an Administrator (or equivalent).

2. To open the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), choose Start > Programs > Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack > Microsoft Internet Information Server > Internet Service Manager.

3. In MMC, right-click the Default Web Site (or the name of the web site used for MeetingPlace Web), and choose Properties.

4. Click the down arrow in the IP Address box. Select the IP address that you want to assign to Cisco MeetingPlace Web.

5. Click Apply, then click OK.

6. Click on the black square icon on the MMC toolbar to stop the Web Server.

7. Click on the black triangle on the MMC toolbar to start the Web Server.

Cisco recommends you assign a hostname to the IP address that you just used. This is so that users have a "friendlier" address (URL) to type into their browsers.

After you complete this procedure, Cisco MeetingPlace Web can be accessed by using the new IP address (or hostname) that you just assigned.
