Cisco uBR-MC28C System Memory Upgrade Requirements on the Cisco uBR7200 Series
October 2000 (Rev. A0)
Summary
The Cisco uBR-MC28C line card requires a minimum of 128 MB DRAM system memory when using Cisco IOS release 12.1(3a)EC1 or higher in a Cisco uBR7200 series universal broadband router. This change is to accommodate additional processor memory requirements as customers expand their port densities within a single chassis.
When ordering the Cisco uBR-MC28C line card with the Cisco uBR7223, Cisco uBR7246, or Cisco uBR7246VXR, the minimum Network Processing Engine (NPE) memory requirement of 128 MB is enforced within the MarketPlace Configuration Tool. When purchasing the Cisco uBR-MC28C line card as a spare, however, a memory upgrade kit is required for Cisco uBR7200 systems installed with NPE-150, NPE-200, NPE-225 or NPE-300 processors.
Note All other line cardsCisco uBR-MC11C, Cisco uBR-MC12C, Cisco uBR-MC14C, Cisco uBR-MC16C, Cisco uBR-MC16E, and Cisco uBR-MC16Sstill operate correctly with the default 64 MB memory requirement for Cisco IOS releases 12.0SC, 12.0T, 12.1, 12.1T and 12.1EC. No memory upgrade is required when purchasing these cards.
To accommodate the Cisco uBR-MC28C memory requirements, Cisco Systems offers a memory upgrade kit for Cisco uBR7200 series universal broadband routers in the field with NPE-150, NPE-200, NPE-225 or NPE-300 processors.
