Description of the Release

Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.3(8)XY is an ED release (XED) optimized for the Catalyst 6000 and 7600 Communication Media Module (CMM). This release is based upon the newer Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(9.3)T. This general release is intended to address business opportunities with new features such as Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Multilevel Precedence and Preemption (MLPP), Malicious Call Identification (MCID), Q.SIG 2, RFC2833, hardware Media Termination Point (MTP), and native T.38 Fax Relay. Any early deployment (ED) release of software should be used in a test network before it is deployed in a production network.

Note: Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(8)XY will be obsolete in six months when the official Cisco IOS Software Mainline Release 12.3(PI6)T becomes available.
