Early Deployment (ED) Release Summary
Description |
Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.0(5)XN is a short-lived ED release introducing support for Systems Network Architecture (SNA) Switching Services. SNA Switching Services provide IBM Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking (APPN) switching for traditional IBM 3270 sessions and distributed Advanced Program-to-Program Communications (APPC) including transaction routing to Customer Information Control Systems (CICSs) via the Cisco Transaction Connection (CTRC). The CTRC is a software gateway connecting TCP/IP clients directly to IBM host-resident CICS transactions and DB2 Application Requesters to host resident Application Servers.
SNA Switching Services implement an APPN and High Performance Routing (HPR) End Node (EN) with a Dependent Logical Unit requester (DLUr), a Branch Extender (BrNN), and an Enterprise Extender (EE). For more information, see the following pages: |
