Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.0(4)XJ is a short-lived ED release based on Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)T. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XJ contains the combined features and functionality of Cisco IOS 11.3AA and 11.3NA for the Cisco AS5200, AS5300, and AS5800 platforms. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XJ will focus on delivering time-proven features and functionality for Access Products.
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XJ was created to provide an upgrade path for Access Products and a delivery mechanism for fixes to critical defects found by customers. The first release of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XJ will include the following new features:

Maintenance Releases |
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XJ is a short-lived release. Subsequent maintenance versions will use the following naming convention: Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XJ1, 12.0(4)XJ2, and so on. These rebuilds will be scheduled every five weeks and will contain fixes to only critical defects found by customers. No new features or platforms will be included in maintenance releases. | ||||
Interim Builds |
Short-lived X releases do not provide interim builds.
Interim builds are not recommended and are not fully tested. Customers will only be provided with interim builds when a critical defect renders the maintenance release unusable. |

Recommended Migration |
If currently using Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3NA or 11.3AA, the recommended upgrade path is Cisco IOS 12.0(4)XJ.
Features of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(4)XJ will be ported to Cisco IOS 12.1(2). The migration path is the logical superseding software. The uniqueness of each network requires that customers verify support for hardware, features, and protocols prior to a massive network upgrade.
