Feature Description:

The Cisco AS5850 is specifically designed to meet the demands of large service providers such as Post, Telephone, and Telegraphs (PTTs), regional bell operating companies (RBOCs), inter-exchange carriers (IXCs), and large Internet service providers (ISPs). The AS5850 initially supports up to 2688 calls (4 x CT3s) or 88 E1s.

The Cisco AS5850 offers high availability features such as:

  • hot-swap on all cards
  • hot spares
  • redundant hot-swappable power supplies
  • redundant switch fabrics
  • redundant routers to ensure 99.999% availability
Its high density, high availability features and Universal Port readiness make it ideal for many network deployment architectures, especially co-location environments and high-density points of presence.

The Cisco AS5850 enables service providers to address fast-growing revenue opportunities such as wholesale dial access. The AS5850's rich set of IOS features and SS7 Media Gateway interoperability enables service providers to quickly provision the AS5850 for new services to meet the rapidly changing demands of the dot-com marketplace.
