Description of the Release

Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.1(3)XQ is an ED release (XED) optimized for the following platforms: Cisco AS5350, Cisco UBR 7200, Cisco 2600, Cisco 3620, Cisco 3640, and the Cisco 3660.

This release introduces a new platform: the Cisco AS5350 and a new IOS feature, Broadband Wireless, on Cisco 2600, Cisco 36XX and UBR7200.

Any early deployment (ED) release of software should be used in a test network before being deployed in a production network.

The Cisco AS5350 is a next generation midrange Universal Gateway Platform. It will be the only 2 PRI access platform on the market that will provide voice and data in a compact 1 RU form factor with carrier class features including hot swappable cards, hot swappable fan tray, and NEBS complaint. The product leverages the existing Motherboard and will support existing Dial Feature Cards. The motherboard features include 2 Fast Ethernet ports, 2T serial ports and R7K MIPS Technology. The Key DFC deliverables with this program are the DFC-2/4 PRI and DFC-NP60 Cards.

Broadband Wireless (Point to Multi-point):
This IOS Feature, Point-to-Multi-Point (P2MP) Wireless System, is an integrated broadband wireless solution consisting of a Head-End router (UBR 7246/7223), and multiple Subscriber (SU) routers (2600/36xx).

Note:
The features delivered with this XED release will be immediately incorporated into Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(1)T and subsequent Cisco IOS 12.2T releases.

Interim Builds

Short-lived X releases do not provide interim builds.

Recommended Customer Migration Path

Cisco IOS Software 12.1(3)XQ will migrate to 12.2(2)T. To collect maintenance fixes it is recommended to migrate to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(2)T or later 12.2T maintenance releases.
