Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.1(3)XG is a specific technology early deployment release (STED) optimized for the Cisco 800 and 1600 Series Routers. This release is based upon 12.1(3)T. 

The new features for the Cisco 801, 802, 803, 804 and 805 series included in this release are:

  • XOT on 805
  • 3DES Encryption
  • HSRP
  • Prefix dial for voice calls on 803 and 804
  • Service Assurance Agent
  • X.3,X.28, and X.29 ITU PAD for X.25 on 801-804
  • Inverse ART on 801-804
  • Supplementary Voice features for selected Nordic countries
The new features for the Cisco 820 series included in this release are:
  • Point-to-Point Protocol over Eithernet (PPPoE)
  • IPSec VPN with DES 56 and 3DES Encryption
  • Stateful firewall through Cisco Secure integrated software
The new features for the Cisco 1605-R platform included in this release:
  • Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE)
Any early deployment (ED) release of software should be used in a test network before being deployed in a production network.

Feature Description:
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(3)XG is an X release for Cisco 800 series routers (80-805, 820) and 1600 platform ( PPPoE support).

NOTE:
The features delivered with this XED release will be immediately incorporated into Cisco IOS Software 12.2(1)T release.

Cisco Systems, Inc. released Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1(3)XG as a short-lived ED release for the Cisco Series 800 and 1600 Routers. It is targeted for the enterprise market.
