Description of the Release

Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2(2)XG is an ED release (XED) optimized for the Cisco 2600, 3600 and MC3810 platforms. This release is based upon the 12.2(2)T maintenance release. This release introduces IOS support for Contact Closure Network Module, and Survivable Remote Site Telephony. Any early deployment (ED) release of software should be used in a test network before being deployed in a production network.

Feature Descriptions:

Contact Closure Network Module
The Contact Closure Network Module manages 64 contact points (56 optoisolated + 8 analog) which are used to detect events that either open or shut a contact point, and send notification messages to the Network Operations Center (NOC)

Survivable Remote Site Telephony
The Survivable Remote Site Telephony feature provides the Cisco CallManager with fallback support for the Cisco IP phones attached to the router on your local Ethernet. Cisco IOS Release 12.2(2)XG integrates this feature on the Cisco MC3810 and enables the router to provide call handling support for the Cisco IP phones when the Cisco IP phones lose connection to the remote primary, secondary, or tertiary Cisco CallManager or when the WAN connection is down.

Note: The features delivered with this XED release will be immediately incorporated into Cisco IOS 12.2(9)T and subsequent Cisco IOS 12.2T releases.

 		 Cisco Systems, Inc. released Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(2)XG as a short-lived release for the Cisco IAD2400, 2600, 3600, and MC3810 platforms. It is targeted for the Service Provider market.
