Description of the Release

Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.2B is a specific-technology, early-deployment release (STED) optimized for support of the Cisco 6400 platform.

This release is based upon Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2T. New features in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(2)B include (but are not limited to):

  • PPPoX 8000 sessions (target) platform

  • 8000 sessions Service Selection Gateway (SSG)

  • Routed bridge encapsulation (RBE) 8000 sessions (target)

  • 2000 Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) tunnels (target)

  • Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) VPN on node route processor (NRP)-2

  • Neptune Phase 1 on NRP-2

  • Per-VC traffic shaping for minimum 600 sessions on NRP-2 [no DBS]

  • IP Quality of Service (QoS) - policing, marking and classification

  • PPPoE Session Limit (per ATM VC)

  • PPPoE session count MIB

  • ATM Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Trap and Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) Enhancements

  • SSG Host Key

  • SSG AAA Server Group Support for Proxy Services

  • PPPoEoE (on FE on NRP-1)

Any early deployment (ED) release of software should be used in a test network before being deployed in a production network.

Note: This train is a migration path for existing ED trains: Cisco IOS Software Releases 12.1DC, 12.2DD, and 12.2(2)XF. The life cycle of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2B will follow life cycle of Cisco IOS Software Release12.2T.
