New and Changed Information
The following sections list the new hardware and software features in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(2)YC.
New Hardware Features in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(2)YC
Cisco IOS Release 12.2(2)YC supports the Catalyst 4224 Access Gateway Switch.
New Software Features in Cisco IOS Release 12.2(2)YC
The.following new features are supported in this release:
- Low Latency Queuing (LLQ). LLQ combines the use of a Priority Queue (PQ) with a class-based weighted fair queuing (CBWFQ) scheme. Classes are defined with classification admission schemes. Traffic flows have access to either the PQ, one of the class-based queues, or a default weighted fair queue. LLQ, the recommended queuing scheme for allow-speed links, allows up to 64 traffic classes with the ability to specify such parameters as priority queuing behavior for voice, a minimum bandwidth for Systems Network Architecture (SNA) data, and Cisco AVVID control protocols and weighted fair queuing for other traffic types.
- Frame Relay Traffic Shaping (FRTS). In Frame-Relay networks, where the physical access speed varies between two endpoints, traffic shaping is used to prevent excessive delay from congested network interface buffers caused by these speed mismatches. Traffic shaping is a tool that meters the transmit rate of frames from a source router to a destination router. This metering is typically done at a value that is lower than the line or circuit rate of the transmitting interface. The metering is done at this rate to account for the circuit speed mismatches that are common in current multiple-access, non-broadcast networks.
Limitations and Restrictions
The following MIBs are supported:
- SNMP MIB-II
- ENTITY-MIB
- IF-MIB
- BRIDGE-MIB
The following Cisco proprietary MIBs are supported:
- CISCO-PROCESS-MIB
- CISCO-MEMORY-POOL-MIB
- CISCO-CDP-MIB
The following MIB will be supported later:
- CISCO-STACK-MIB
Important Notes
Cisco IOS Releases 12.2(2)YC and 12.2(2)YC1 were deferred due to caveat CSCdy01975. The software solution for these deferred images is Cisco IOS Release 12.2(2)YC3, which is available on Cisco.com.
To increase network availability, Cisco recommends that you upgrade affected Cisco IOS images with the suggested replacement software images. Cisco will discontinue manufacturing shipment of affected Cisco IOS images. Any pending order will be substituted by the replacement software images.
![]() |
Note Please be aware that failure to upgrade the affected Cisco IOS images may result in network downtime. |
The terms and conditions that governed your rights and obligations and those of Cisco, with respect to the deferred images, will apply to the replacement images.

Cisco TAC inquiries are categorized according to the urgency of the issue:
- Priority level 4 (P4)You need information or assistance concerning Cisco product capabilities, product installation, or basic product configuration.
- Priority level 3 (P3)Your network performance is degraded. Network functionality is noticeably impaired, but most business operations continue.
- Priority level 2 (P2)Your production network is severely degraded, affecting significant aspects of business operations. No workaround is available.
- Priority level 1 (P1)Your production network is down, and a critical impact to business operations will occur if service is not restored quickly. No workaround is available.
The Cisco TAC resource that you choose is based on the priority of the problem and the conditions of service contracts, when applicable.
Cisco TAC Web Site
You can use the Cisco TAC Web Site to resolve P3 and P4 issues yourself, saving both cost and time. The site provides around-the-clock access to online tools, knowledge bases, and software. To access the Cisco TAC Web Site, go to this URL:
All customers, partners, and resellers who have a valid Cisco service contract have complete access to the technical support resources on the Cisco TAC Web Site. If you have Internet access, we recommend that you open P3 and P4 cases through the Cisco TAC Web Site.
Cisco TAC Escalation Center
The Cisco TAC Escalation Center addresses priority level 1 or priority level 2 issues. These classifications are assigned when severe network degradation significantly impacts business operations. When you contact the TAC Escalation Center with a P1 or P2 problem, a Cisco TAC engineer automatically opens a case.
To obtain a directory of toll-free Cisco TAC telephone numbers for your country, go to this URL:
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/687/Directory/DirTAC.shtml
Before calling, please check with your network operations center to determine the level of Cisco support services to which your company is entitled: for example, SMARTnet, SMARTnet Onsite, or Network Supported Accounts (NSA).
