Early Deployment (ED) Release Summary

Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.0(2)XC is a short-lived ED release. It provides new features for the Cisco 2600, Cisco 3600, uBR7200, and uBR900.
This release offers advanced features for the cable modem market in Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server, IP Security (IPSec), Network Address Translation/Port Address Translation (NAT/PAT), and Firewall Features, particularly in the small-office, home-office (SOHO) and small business environment. It also introduces the FE Quake, which is the Fast Ethernet derivative in the Quake family of integrated, modular communication platforms designed for use in remote branch offices and departmental workgroups. The modem over Basic Rate Interface (BRI) functionality adds support for analog calls (plain old telephone service (POTS) and modem) to be carried over BRI. This includes incoming and outgoing calls. Finally, this release introduces the MC-16 Modem Card to enable volume deployments of cable modems and the Cisco uBR7246. For more information, see the following pages: |
