Product/Feature Integration

New features are added to the subsequent maintenance releases of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(x)XE. For more information, see the following pages:

Maintenance Releases

The Cisco IOS X releases (short-lived) do not provide maintenances. They fold back into the Cisco IOS Software 12.0T Technology train. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(x)T interim builds will be available to customers (through DE or the TAC) to fix bugs found in Cisco IOS 12.0(x)XE releases.

Interim Builds

Interim builds are not recommended and are not fully tested. Customers will only be provided with interim builds when a critical defect renders the maintenance release unusable. [an error occurred while processing this directive]

7-week maintenance cycle: Multiple short-lived releases
13-week maintenance cycle: Not applicable

Maintenance Release Synchronization Points

Not applicable. For more information, see the Projected Release Dates for Cisco IOS Software Product Bulletin.

Recommended Migration

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

In general customers using an XE release would migrate to a subsequent Cisco IOS Software 12.0T release. Unless specific features of that release are required, it is not necessary to migrate to the next XE release.

The migration path is the logical superseding software. The uniqueness of each network requires that customers verify support for hardware, features, and protocols prior to a massive network upgrade. For more information, see the Projected Release Dates for Cisco IOS Software Product Bulletin.

Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliant

Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(x)XE is Y2K compliant.

General Deployment (GD) Plan

There is no current plan to certify Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(x)XE as GD. [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Life Cycle

Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0(x)XE releases are short-lived ED releases. Cisco IOS 12.0(x)T interim builds will be available to customers (through DE or TAC) to fix bugs found in Cisco IOS 12.0(x)XE.
