Early Deployment (ED) Release Summary

[an error occurred while processing this directive] [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Description

Directly parented to Cisco IOS® Software Release 12.0, Cisco IOS 12.0T was released in November 1998 and is the first major release since Cisco IOS 11.1 to unify all previous Cisco IOS ED releases. Furthermore, Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T will continually provide additional features and platform support with each maintenance release. As a superset of its parent, Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T regularly synchronizes to Cisco IOS 12.0 to capture fixes committed to that base code. The constant addition of features to the code essentially makes this release a little less robust than Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0, but much richer in functionality.

As defined by the Technology model, Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T will stop integrating new features and platforms after the first four or five maintenance releases. Thereafter, only defect fixes will be allowed. For more information, see the following pages:

Target Market

Cisco Systems, Inc. released Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T for all active platforms and targets early adapters.

Product Support

The Cisco IOS Software Release main releases support all active Cisco shipping products.

Related Cisco IOS Releases

The early deployment releases based on Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0 regularly synchronize with it to catch base code bug fixes. For more information, see the Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3 page.

Product/Feature Integration

New products and features are added to the maintenance releases of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T. For more information, see the following pages:

Maintenance Releases

This is a time-based maintenance release.

Interim Builds

Interim builds are not recommended and are not fully tested. Customers will only be provided with interim builds when a critical defect renders the maintenance release unusable. [an error occurred while processing this directive]

7-week maintenance cycle: Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T will start with a 7-week release model until it reaches maturity. After this point, it will probably migrate to the 14-week maintenance release model. An interim build is executed once a week.
13-week maintenance cycle: Not applicable

Maintenance Release Synchronization Points

Not applicable. For more information, see the Projected Release Dates for Cisco IOS Software Product Bulletin.

Recommended Migration

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

If currently using Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T, the recommended upgrade path is Cisco 12.0T, 12.0S or 12.0XE.

The migration path is the logical superseding software. The uniqueness of each network requires that customers verify support for hardware, features, and protocols prior to a massive network upgrade. For more information, see the Projected Release Dates for Cisco IOS Software Product Bulletin.

Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliant

Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T is Y2K compliant.

General Deployment (GD) Plan

Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T is not targeted for GD. [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Life Cycle

Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0T will not reach GD status; however, it will be engineering-supported for the full two year Cisco IOS release life span.
