Description

Cisco IOS® Software Release 11.3AA is an ED release to bridge the gap between Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3(4)T and Cisco IOS 12.0(1)T. The Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3(x)AA train delivers access server features in the Cisco IOS software. Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA is an ED release train for dial products. It was the initial release vehicle for the Cisco AS5800. The Cisco AS5200 and Cisco AS5300 series Access Server platforms were added to this release as well. Additional dial and interface functionality were added later.

Maintenance Releases

Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA delivered additional features with each maintenance release.

Interim Builds

Interim builds are not recommended and are not fully tested. Customers will only be provided with interim builds when a critical defect renders the maintenance release unusable.

7-week maintenance cycle:	Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA uses a 7-week release model. An interim build is executed once every two weeks.
13-week maintenance cycle:	Not applicable

Maintenance Release Synchronization Points

Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA is parented to Cisco IOS 11.3T. For every maintenance release of Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3, there is a maintenance release of Cisco IOS 11.3AA, which contains all defect corrections on Cisco IOS 11.3, in addition to maintenance or new functionality unique to Cisco 11.3AA. It synchronizes and builds interims bi-weekly. Note that Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3(1)AA was not released to the public. Recommended Migration

Cisco IOS Software Release Software Release 11.3AA merged with Cisco IOS 12.0 at Cisco IOS 11.3(3)AA. Customers using Cisco IOS Software Release 1.3(4)AA or later should be advised to move to Cisco IOS 12.0T to receive the same functionality as in the AA branch later than Cisco IOS 11.3(4)AA.

If currently using Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA, the recommended upgrade path is to Cisco IOS 12.0T.

The migration path is the logical superseding software. The uniqueness of each network requires that customers verify support for hardware, features, and protocols prior to a massive network upgrade. For more information, see the Projected Release Dates for Cisco IOS Software Product Bulletin.

Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliant

Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA is Y2K compliant.

General Deployment Plan

Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA will not achieve GD status.

Life Cycle

The Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA train is a short-term release train until Cisco IOS 12.0T.

The Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA train has the following assumptions:

Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA is a short-lived vehicle for dial platforms until Cisco IOS 12.0T is available.
Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA will act as an ED train as defined by the Cisco IOS release process.
The Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3AA train will reach end of sale (EOS) in February 1999 and will reach end of engineering (EOE) in April 1999, or will follow the life cycle of Cisco IOS 11.3T, whichever is sooner.
Synchronizations and builds will be done bi-weekly.
