Early Deployment (ED) Release Summary
Description |
Cisco IOS® Software Release 11.3(5)DB1 was released in December 1998 to introduce the node route processor (NRP) on the Cisco 6400 platform. The NRP is a router blade which resides in the Cisco 6400 platform. It is a custom hardware design derived from a Cisco 7200 router to offer Digital Subscriber Loop (xDSL) technology features.
The Cisco 6400 is the first of a new generation of Telco-designed Broadband Concentrators enabling Network Operators, Post Telephone and Telegraphs (PTTs), and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to break through the Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) profitability barriers. It accomplishes this by combining the richness of Cisco's IOS ATM switching and routing capabilities in a modular, scalable, redundant form factor that is compliant with the Network Equipment Business Systems/European Telecommunications Standards Institute (NEBS/ETSI). The Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3DB ED release train is directly synchronized to Cisco IOS 11.3(5)AA. Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3(5)AA is pulled from Cisco IOS 11.3T. For that reason, Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3DB will inherit all bug fixes from Cisco IOS 11.3AA on scheduled maintenance releases and will reach end of engineering (EOE) the same time as Cisco IOS 11.3AA. Comments |
The release naming of Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3DB is slightly different than most Cisco IOS releases. Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3(5)DBx refers to a DB release that is parented to Cisco IOS 11.3(5)AA. The "x" suffix, which can be 1, 2, 3, and so on, represents the successive maintenance releases built on the Cisco IOS Software Release 11.3(5)AA code base.
