Cisco IOS® Software Release 11.1 CC is a platform-specific software release supporting new features for Cisco 7500, Cisco 7200, and Cisco 7000 series routers with the 7000 Series Route Switch Processor (RSP7000) and 7000 Series Chassis Interface (RSP7000CI).
Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1CC, also known as the Internet Service Provider (ISP) Geek train, introduced a number of very advanced networking features such as Forwarding Information Base (FIB), Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF), and NetFlow. |

Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1CC is based on Cisco IOS 11.1CA. Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(17)CC was the first customer maintenance release available for Cisco IOS 11.1CC supported by the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC). Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(17)CC is only available on Cisco Connection Online (CCO). Other future maintenance releases are orderable.

Product/Feature Integration |
All features supported in Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1 and Cisco IOS 11.1CA are supported in Cisco IOS 11.1CC. New products and features will be integrated into each maintenance release until Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(22)CC. Cisco IOS 11.1(22)CC is the last maintenance release allowed to have new products and features integrated. For more information, see the following pages: | ||||||||||||
Maintenance Releases |
Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1CC follows the parent Cisco IOS 11.CA maintenance release cycle. Cisco IOS 11.1 and 11.1CA were originally a 7-week release model and are now at a 13-week cycle as of Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(18). Cisco Software Release 11.1CC will continue to use the 7-week maintenance cycle. This 13-week release cycle was created to meet the needs of Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1CC to continue a 7-week cycle.
As of Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(24)CC, the Cisco IOS 11.1CC train will start the 13-week maintenance cycle by releasing only even-numbered releases. For more information, see the Cisco IOS Software Release Process for Release 11.1CC Product Bulletin. |

Maintenance Release Synchronization Points |
To help maintain the Cisco IOS Software Release migration path, Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1CA has synchronized the following maintenances into other Cisco IOS trains. Hardware and software products and features supported in current and/or previous maintenances will be supported in the synchronized train maintenance.

Recommended Migration |

If you are currently an ISP, the recommended upgrade path is Cisco IOS Software Release 12.0S. If you are currently a Large Enterprise customer, the recommended upgrade path is to Cisco IOS Software Releases 12.0T, 12.0S. If you are currently an Enterprise customer, the recommended upgrade path is to Cisco IOS Software Releases 12.0, 12.0T. The recommended migration path is not very straightforward. Look into the hardware, protocols, and features used, along with software defects, to verify the above recommendation will work for your unique network. |

Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliant |
Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1CA is Y2K complaint. Development testing has integrated the standard Y2K test script in each maintenance test. | ||||||||||||
General Deployment (GD) Plan |
