Moving a Particular Instance of Cisco E-Mail Manager
In some situations, you may need to move a particular instance of Cisco E-Mail Manager from one computer to another, for example, when you purchase a new computer. This document explains how to achieve this without losing or changing the Cisco E-Mail Manager database.
First, install Cisco E-Mail Manager on the new computer with the same directory structure as the Cisco E-Mail Manager instance you want to move. For example, if the old Cisco E-Mail Manager installation is in the d:\program files\webline\email manager\ directory, make sure the new installation is also located in d:\program files\webline\email manager\.
During installation, you are prompted to create an instance. Create one, giving it exactly the same name as the existing instance you want to move. Make sure that the spelling and case match, which ensures the directory structure is identical. For example, if the existing instance is called CeM01, name the new instance CeM01.
Next, check that your JDBC drivers are in the same directory location in the new installation as they are in the existing one.
At the database setup stage, you are asked whether you want to run setup now or later. Click Run Later. Click Next on all screens in the Configuration Manager since you are going to overwrite these settings later.
Once the installation is complete, copy the instance directory and all of its contents from the old computer to the new one. The instance directory is located in the Instances directory, and it has the same name as the instance itself. In the example above, the instance directory is located in \Instances\CeM01. To create a backup copy of this folder, copy it to a secondary location on the new computer. Start Cisco E-Mail Manager on the new computer to verify everything works.
