Introduction

This document contains frequently asked questions about the Cisco E-mail Manager Configuration Manager.

Refer to Cisco Technical Tips Conventions for more information on document conventions.

Note: The information in this document relates to Cisco E-mail Manager version 4.05i, 4.06 and 5.0.

Q. What is the default username and password?

A. The default username is root, and the password is pass. The username root can log you into any instance, while the username you create for a particular instance works only for that instance.

Q. Why is the New Instance option grayed out?

A. In order to create new instances, you must use the root login. Regular users cannot create new instances.

Q. How do I change the default username and password?

A. After you log in as root to any instance, you can change the default username and password. In order to do so, select File >Set Root User. Follow the instructions to change both the username and password.

Q. Why can I not type or move with the mouse or keyboard after I start the Configuration Manager?

A. The use of the PC Anywhere application to run the Configuration Manager is common. However, PC Anywhere faces compatibility issues with Java programs that can make the mouse and keyboard inoperable. In order to resolve this issue, either run Configuration Manager on the local computer, or use another remote control software, for example, Virtual Network Computing.

Q. How do I fix a port conflict?

A. Configuration Manager specifies which port number is already in use, and which you need to change to resolve the conflict. First, change the port number of the other instance to the required one, and then come back to the instance you want to change and complete your changes.

Q. If I do not know the database administrator password, how can I run SQL scripts?

A. Fill out the database information, and when you are prompted for the administrator username and password for the database, click Cancel. This still generates the proper SQL scripts, and shows the directory location of the scripts. You can then ask your database administrator to run the scripts.

Q. Do I have to use 8088, or some numbers other than port 80, for the Cisco E-mail Manager HTTP port?

A. You can use port 80 for HTTP, but only one of your Cisco E-mail Manager instances can use this port number. Other instances must use a different number.
