Introduction

Resource Manager Essentials (RME) is one of the main products in the CiscoWorks family. RME applications such as Availability Manager, NetConfig, and Software Image Management (SWIM) use a variety of transport protocols and authentication methods to interact with network devices.

For example, NetConfig requires a Telnet password or an enable password to interact with network devices in the RME inventory. Config Management (Telnet) requires a Telnet password, enable password, and SNMP read-only community string to interact with network devices.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

(1) SSH uses the Telnet credentials. In order to use SSH, you need to enter the required Telnet credentials and configure SSH as the primary transport mechanism.
