Introduction

When you operate LAN²LAN Frame Relay for NetWare, this situation might occur. LAN²LAN operates normally until more remote sites are added and PVCs are established. There are problems (able to see the server but not attach; can attach but gets network errors; works at first, then not, and so forth) with IPX/SPX routing at only the newer sites.

Prerequisites

Requirements

There are no specific requirements for this document.

Components Used

This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.

Symptom

A customer has encountered these symptoms:

  1. Able to see the server but unable to attach

  2. Able to attach but gets network errors

  3. Able to attach, then sometimes loses the server

  4. Able to see the servers and attach from the remote, but not from the central site

The customer's LAN²LAN is unable to connect to two of the nine servers on their Frame Relay network.

Reason

The public Frame Relay network had defined a duplicate Data Link Connection Identifier (DLCI) for the main site, which caused all of the symptoms mentioned in this document.

Solution

The network provider fixed the duplicate DLCI numbers. The customer reconfigured the router and is now fully operational. Make sure there are no duplicate DLCIs at the local site. Contact Cisco Systems' LAN²LAN Technical Support department for more information.
