Prerequisites
Requirements
There are no specific requirements for this document.
Components Used
This document is not restricted to specific software and hardware versions.
Network Types
Both the LAN²LAN/X.25 and XCI configuration allow you to select a Network Type for each line on the Link Main Parameters menu. This Network Type has these choices:
-
N/A
-
DDN
-
Telenet/Sprintnet
-
Point-to-point (not used in XCI)
You should normally select N/A unless you see your network type in this list.
If you select DDN, then LAN²LAN or XCI plays a passive role in setting up the link and waits for the DDN network to get in touch with it. This is a requirement for Department of Defense Networks.
If you select Sprintnet, then LAN²LAN or XCI changes its behavior to conform to Sprintnet requirements. These are as follows:
-
Calls are rejected if they contain any facility code not listed here:
Table: Reverse Charges ----------------------------------- REVERSE CHARGE 01 =================================== Fast select 01 Packet size negotiation 42 Window size negotiation 43 National marker 00 Charging 04 Charging money C5 Charging segment C2 Charging duration C1 Charging redirect C3 Throughput negotiation 02 Network user ID C6 ----------------------------------- -
For LAN²LAN/X.25, packet and window size negotiation is included in call packets, even though the size matches the default for the link.
