Problem

Due to an inconsistency in PC 386 Motherboards that use the OPTI 82C381 and 82C382 chip set with a revision level of B or earlier, LAN²LAN does not operate properly when performing 16-bit transfers on odd byte boundaries, and the WD diagnostic fails during the High Speed Ports test.

The problem was first experienced in a Silicon Valley Computer SVC386DX, but other computers might use the same chip set.

If you experience a problem when you run LAN²LAN in a 386 clone, run WD. If you receive an error code in the 4141-4147 range, check to see if your PC contains the chip set in question.

Note: This problem has been fixed beginning with Revision C OPTI chip sets, but models with Revision A or B sets might still exist.
