Introduction
If you use a LAN²LAN or LAN²LAN/X.25 access driver and perform a generation of a NetWare v2.x workstation or router, the system might hang when the drivers are loading. If so, the suggestions in this document might be helpful.

Suggestions
Novell has chosen to reuse the file suffix ".LAN" for NetWare v3.x Driver NLMs; for example, LAN2LAN.LAN. The ".LAN" suffix was previously used in NetWare v2.x to identify the file that contains the configuration text for drivers (for example, L2LDRV.LAN), which is used by the generation process.
If you install your LAN²LAN or LAN²LAN/X.25 access software from the release diskette using the INSTALL.BAT file supplied by Cisco, then the NLM ".LAN" file is not copied into the directories used for generating NetWare v2.x systems. If you copied the software manually or use the floppy diskette method to generate your systems, then it is possible that the LAN2LAN.LAN or LAN2X25.LAN NLM files might be present at the time the generation process tries to read the configuration ".LAN" files. In this case, the generation process might hang without warning.
If this happens, we suggest that you get a list of the files on the flexible diskette or directory you use for LAN²LAN or LAN²LAN/X.25 software. If you see an NLM (LAN2LAN.LAN or LAN2X25.LAN) where it should not be, rename it by changing the suffix to .NLM. You can, of course, delete it if you are sure you have retained your original LAN²LAN or LAN²LAN/X.25 access release diskette.
