Remote Accessing the WVC200

Introduction


This article is one in a series to assist in the setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Cisco Small Business products (formerly Linksys Business Series).

Q. How can I remotely access my WVC200?

A.

Step 1:
Verify the current IP address of the camera this should be displayed on the LCD located in front of the unit.

Step 2:
Launch your browser and type in http://IP_Address_of_your_WVC200 on the address field then hit Enter.



Step 3:
A password box should come out. Type "admin" for the username and password then hit Enter.

Step 4:
The web user interface of the camera should come out. Click on Setup tab. Look for Configuration Type then select Fixed IP Address. Assign a valid LAN IP address and DNS to your camera then click on .

Step 5:
Still under Setup, click on Options at the left side of the screen, scroll down then check Enable Alternate Port. Assign your remote management port on Port Number field. By default it's set to 1024. Then click on .

Note: In case that the WVC200 is connected on a router with NAT, you need to open up the port you set on Port Number field. Please contact the router manufacturer for additional assistance.

Step 6:
You should now be able to access the camera remotely. To do this, launch your browser on the remote computer and type-in http://WAN_IP address_of_your_Router:Port Number then hit Enter.
