Optimize Fiber Interconnections

The Prisma DT Digital Transport system provides optical transport technology for high-performance, highly efficient interconnection of master headends and distant hubs. To deliver high-quality transport of converged video, voice, and data services on an optical network, the system serves as a multiservice SONET/SDH-compatible multiplexer that is optimized for regional fiber interconnection of broadband networks.

Up to 16 uncompressed video channels can be transported over a single wavelength on optical fiber, or the Prisma DT Digital Transport system can transport compressed ASI MPEG-2 video, which can carry as much as 40 times as many programs compared with uncompressed video. Upgrading from uncompressed to compressed capability is as simple as exchanging or adding interface modules. Upgradeable to full-duplex operation, the Prisma DT system supports full-duplex DS1, DS3, OC-3/STM-1, and Ethernet-based voice and data services, delivering a powerful, flexible multiformat transport solution for regional interconnects.
