Introduction

This document shows the pinout specification of the RJ45 Jack/Receptacle (female) present on various Cisco VCO/4K I/O modules and SDS main distribution frame (MDF) adapters.

This document fills in gaps in the Card Technical Descriptions Software Release 5.1 document.

ICC I/O Module Network Pinouts

The first pinout below lists the network pinouts for the RJ45 Jack/Receptacle (female) on the ICC I/O Module. Use this table as a reference when wiring together an RJ45 connector (male) to a cable that you will then insert into the RJ45 Jack/Receptacle on the ICC I/O module. This covers both T1 and E1 issues.

VCO side Network side
---------- --------------
Pin 1 Tx Ring - network Rx Ring
Pin 8 TX Tip - network Rx Tip
Pin 4 Rx Ring - network TX Ring
Pin 5 Rx Tip - network TX Tip

Also, a VCO/4K to Cisco AS5300 cable pinout would look like this:

VCO side AS5300
---------- ----------
Pin 1 TX Ring - Pin 1 Rx Ring
Pin 8 TX Tip - Pin 2 Rx Tip
Pin 4 Rx Ring - Pin 4 TX Ring
Pin 5 Rx Tip - Pin 5 TX Tip

Note the orientation of the RJ45 Jack/Receptacle on the ICC I/O module. When viewing the RJ45 Jack/Receptacle on the ICC I/O module, you will see the 'key/notch' of the jack on your left-hand side. Given this viewing orientation, Pin 8 is on the top and Pin 1 is on the bottom.

The above descriptions are repeated for the following VCO I/O-Modules and SDS MDF-adapters:

  • The [120 ohm, (non-coax)] RJ45/DB15 VCO I/O Module for the 4xT1 and 4xE1-120 ohm cards. (This RJ45 jack has the same orientation as the ICC I/O Module's RJ45 jack.)

  • The [120 ohm, (non-coax)] RJ45 SDS MDF Adapter for the 4xT1 and 4xE1-120ohm cards.

Note: For this MDF adapter, when viewing the RJ45 Jack/Receptacle on the MDF adapter, you will see the 'key' of the jack on your right-hand side. Given this viewing orientation, Pin 1 is on the top and Pin 8 is on the bottom.

  • The [120 ohm, (non-coax)] RJ45/DB15 VCO I/O Module for the PRI/N and E1-PRI-120 ohm (NET5)cards. (This RJ45 jack has the same orientation as the ICC I/O Module's RJ45 Jack.)

  • The [120 ohm, (non-coax)] RJ45/DB15 SDS MDF Adapter for the PRI/N and E1-PRI-120ohm (NET5) cards.

Note: For this MDF adapter, when viewing the RJ45 Jack/Receptacle on the MDF adapter module, you will see the 'key' of the jack on top. Given this viewing orientation, Pin 1 is on the left and Pin 8 is on the right.
