Introduction
This document provides a sample configuration for an inband IP management link. In some cases, you do not have access to the Ethernet interface on the Processor Switch Module 1 (PXM1) for management purposes. This document describes how to build a permanent virtual circuit (PVC) that terminates on the PXM for the purposes of managing the MGX 8250.

The information presented in this document was created from devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If you are working in a live network, ensure that you understand the potential impact of any command before using it.

Configuring
Complete the following steps to configure an inband IP management link:

Use the cnfifip command to configure an IP address for the ATM interface:

Use the addcon command to add a master connection from your inbound port to port 7.34 on the PXM.
Note: In this example, we are using the DS3 port 7.1 on the PXM as our inbound port. You can also build connections from other cards, for example, through an AUSM.

Use the cnfupcubr command to adjust the policing parameters; some code versions default the peak cell rate (PCR) to 50.

Use Telnet to access and manage the MGX 8250 over the ATM link over vpi/vci 1/40.
Verify
