General Releases: All of our internetworking products include Flash ROM, which allows software updates to be downloaded without hardware changes and at no additional cost to our customers. CompatiView users should always use the latest version of CompatiView when they update their device software.

Interim Releases: Interim Releases of software are made between General Releases in order to address specific customer needs, problems or new incompatibilities. These releases receive functional testing in the areas that have been modified, and also receive significant testing for basic functionality. Customers who install Interim Releases should upgrade to the next General Release when it is made available.

  In order to download version 5.1.x firmware to any LAN/WAN router, the device now requires a 4 MB SIMM (minimum) or a 16 MB SIMM in addition to the existing 1 MB onboard SIMM.

NOTE: It is recommended that you continue to use CompatiView v4.8.7 if operating under the following conditions:

1. You are managing a Compatible Systems Microrouter 900i, a Microrouter 1000R, or a RISC Router 3000E.
2. You are managing any Compatible Systems internetworking device whose operating software has not been upgraded to v4.5.0 or later.

** IntraPort 2, IntraPort 2+, IntraPort Enterprise-2 and Enterprise-8, IntraPort Carrier-2 and Carrier-8 customers are ecouraged to upgrade to the latest Cisco VPN 5000 Concentrator Series software, VPN 5000 Client Software, and VPN 5000 Manager Software.
