Cisco 605 PCI Adapter vs Cisco 600 Series CBOS Modem

The Cisco 605 PCI adapter and the Cisco 600 series Cisco Broadband Operating System (CBOS) modem are different products and use different software drivers. For example, the Cisco 605 PCI adapter uses version 2.1.0 for its operating system, and the Cisco 600 series CBOS modem uses version 2.1. These two products and their operating system software are not compatible.

Refer to the Cisco Software Center for availability of the driver for the adapter. If no drivers are listed, contact Cisco Technical Support to arrange for a download of version 2.1.0.

Cisco 605 PCI Adapter Hardware and Software Requirements

To configure and use the Cisco 605, the following hardware and software requirements are needed:

  • A Pentium, PentiumPro, or compatible processor with an available bus-mastering PCI expansion slot

  • 10BaseT or 10/100BaseT Ethernet adapter

  • CD-ROM drive

  • Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0. All three platforms must have Dialup Networking (DUN) installed and Windows NT 4.0 must have the Remote Access Service (RAS) installed. Windows 95 requires DUN Version 1.2.
