Changes to the Release Notes

This section documents supplemental changes that have been added to the Release Notes for Cisco EdgeCraft Release 2.0 since the production of the Cisco ONS 15305 System Software CD for Release 2.0.

No changes have been added to the release notes for Release 2.0.

Caveats

Review the notes listed below before deploying the EdgeCraft. Caveats with DDTS tracking numbers are known system limitations that are scheduled to be addressed in a subsequent release. Caveats without DDTS tracking numbers are provided to point out procedural or situational considerations when deploying the product.

DDTS # CSCeg61416

VT100 Terminal Blocks TFTP Server Port and SNMP Traps.

If CiscoEdgeCraft is started and the VT100 terminal is started from the login window an exit from CiscoEdgeCraft (directly from login or after connect to element with the VT100 terminal running) will cause an occupied TFTP-port. When CiscoEdgeCraft is started again, the TFTP server does not function.

Workaround:

Shut down the VT100 terminal before starting CiscoEdgeCraft again.

Adding Route on Interface with Down Status.

Adding default route using the Management Tree in the IP/iproute table, fails.

Workaround:

Make sure the interface has status up before adding a route.

DDTS # CSCeg61599

CiscoEdgeCraft Process Not Terminated from Login Screen.

If CiscoEdgeCraft is started and no community string is entered but Logon is pressed, the client will hang for a while before reporting not able to connect. If the user during this presses the X in the upper right corner, the client seems to be closed, but it is actually not (see TaskManager).

Workaround:

Wait for error message and click Exit to close Logon dialog.

The MCN wizard does not support IP un-numbered configuration in current release.

Workaround:

Since this is a strategically choice for IP configuration and planning of MCN, this needs to be set in ONSCLI. After ONSCLI set-up, select ManagementInterfaces in the Management Tree and use attributes available instead.

The commissioning wizard does not include new alarm configuration options applicable for ONS 15305 2.0.

Workaround:

Use attributes available under the Management tree instead. Device->AlarmConfig.

Alarms on AU4 Removed when Restructuring. The problem occurred when restructuring an SDH port on the AUG1 level. If the port is restructured from "au4ToCrossConnect" to "tug3x3", or from "tug3x3" to "au4ToCrossConnect", active alarms on the AU4 managed object are cleared from the active alarm list.

Workaround:

A refresh of the alarm list will show these alarms again.

WAN to SDH GUI - LCAS Channel Status. Setting LcasChannelStatus when running 'nolcas'.

Workaround:

The user is allowed to manage the LCAS channel status. This settings has no effect if the port is not running in LCAS mode.

Cbklm Editor Validation. Due to lack of validation in the Cbklm editor, it is possible to create an invalid cross-connection. For example, AU-4 XC in the VC-12 panel. An error message is displayed when saving.

Workaround:

None.

DDTS # CSCeg61638

Mobile Radeon 7500 GFX Chip. When CiscoEdgeCraft/Installation is run as the single java application on the system and the application is closed, this may cause a blue screen on computers with the mobile radeon 7500 gfx chip.

Workaround:

Please update the driver for the chip and/or reference Sun BugParade #4713003.

DDTS # CSCeg61640

Structuring Wizard Validation. Structuring wizard allows operator to set a structure not applicable for ONS 15302 2.0.0 without new GFP WAN module. To avoid this unnecessary "Unsuccessful operation" consider removing the option for accessing the wizard when there are no GFP WAN module present. The same applies when there is no wan module present at all.

Workaround:

None.

DDTS # CSCeg61645

Software download GUI misinform operator when downloading software to ONS 15305. Quite immediately after download of the Network Release package have been triggered from the Software Download GUI, the status bar states "flashing". This is not correct, as the TFTP transfer has just begun. When downloading software/firmware to the ONS15305, this will be a multiple transfer operation, sending one file at the time, until all files enclosed in Network Release zip-file have been downloaded. The flashing process starts when all files have been stored in Compact Flash.

Workaround:

In order to verify flashing process use the following option from the "Management Tree". Menu path CEC: Management Tree->device->SWDownload->SwdlProgress

DDTS # CSCeg61649

Wrong presentation of attributes for WAN ports for the S1.1-8-LC module. The nature of all bridge ports on Ethernet modules is the same and is operational from the Ethernet switch, where they all can be seen as LAN-ports. However, the WAN-ports interfacing the Ethernet over SDH (EoS) mapper does not support other than full duplex 100Mbit/s operation for Ethernet traffic as they are connected to the EoS circuit.

The Ethernet WAN-port presentation of attributes incorrectly allows the operator to change the following attributes: "SpeedAdminMode", "DuplexAdminMode" and "AutoNegotiationMode". Editing these attributes for WAN-ports may lead to low throughput.

Workaround:

Do not edit these attributes for WAN-ports.

Resolved Caveats for Release 2.0

This section highlights the resolved caveats for Release 2.0.

Upgrade from ONS 15305 Release 1.0.0 to 1.1.0

When the ONS 15305 is upgraded from Release 1.0.0 to 1.1.0, Cisco Edge Craft does not fully support the upgrade.

Workaround: Reconnect Cisco Edge Craft.

Empty xcFabric Node in Topology Browser

When you expand the xcFabric, it contains nothing. To work around this issue, open the cross-connect GUI from the menu, or by right-clicking the xcFabric.

New Features and Functionality

This section highlights new features and functionality for Release 2.0. For an overview of features of the Cisco EdgeCraft, consult the Cisco EdgeCraft Software Guide, Release 2.0.

New commissioning wizard.

New Management Communication Network (MCN) Wizard.

Improved Software Download GUI.

Redesigned WAN-to-SDH mapper GUI.

Support for ONS 15302 2.0.0 and ONS 15305 2.0.0 and aligned with new features introduced by HW and SW for this product. Refer to release note for NEs for more information.

This version of CEC introduces polling of NE alarm status. Every minute, the CEC will align status for alarms with the actual NE condition. This can be seen as an enhancement to previous releases, which required a community string reflecting the management pc IP address or manual "refresh" of alarm list.

Bulk transfer support of large tables will benefit performance and present Notification History and Cross-connect (WAN- and CXC). Notice that this is a TCP session using a range of 10 ports, which may need to be opened if connected through a DCN including a firewall. Default TCP-port range is 4500 - 4510. The range is editable and configurable to either "true" or "false". If "false" normal SNMP GET operations will be used and the Bulk transfer turned off.

Definitions of Service Request Severity

To ensure that all service requests are reported in a standard format, Cisco has established severity definitions.

Severity 1 (S1)—Your network is "down," or there is a critical impact to your business operations. You and Cisco will commit all necessary resources around the clock to resolve the situation.

Severity 2 (S2)—Operation of an existing network is severely degraded, or significant aspects of your business operation are negatively affected by inadequate performance of Cisco products. You and Cisco will commit full-time resources during normal business hours to resolve the situation.
